ESPN Radio Host: "It is White Peoples Responsibility to Fix Racism"

ESPN radio host and TV commentator Bomani Jones wrote in a series of emotional messages on Twitter yesterday that "it is white people's responsibility to fix racism" and that white people need to think about their "complicity in the racism of America."

In the tweets, which were first reported by the Social Memo, Jones called out "white supremacy" and "privilege," while also saying that liberals and conservatives are part of that structure, if they're white.

Over the course of a few hours, Jones went from analyzing racism in the United States to telling white people that they need to analyze their "complicity" in racism.

First, he wrote that his humanity was being "ignored" because he is African American:

Next, Jones corrected people's grammar, while also making grammatical errors:

1. Who will fix black racism or anti-semitism or other similar things?
2. How can one individual stop another individual from being a jerk?
3. We will never cure humanity of evil. Fix it in one spot and I guarantee it will crop up in another, even if only a mutated version.

I hardly know where to begin.

I have a neighbor who ALWAYS parks his car in a manner which makes it impossible for the person parked next to him to even get into their car.

And .. when his neighbor is parked next to him, he is always snooping around their car .. looking in all the windows, like he’s looking to see if there’s anything inside the car he might want. I’ve seen him doing this.

SO, HE WANTS ME TO RESPECT HIM .. WHILE HE HAS NO RESPECT FOR ANY OF US ..??????? AND I’M SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS .. IT’S NOT MINE TO FIX.

Top rule for me growing up, and I enforce it both at home and at work, is don’t point out a problem without offering up a solution.

I’ve yet to see any leader or commentator of stature offer any solution other than taking down the ANoVA flag and gun control. Has anyone else?

I think that what’s happening here is first trying to get people to take responsibility/admit complicity, which then makes it easier to dictate solutions to them.

It’s everybody’s responsibility. And racism will always exist … at least in splinters. This country has come a long way since the 60s. The only setbacks I’ve ever seen have happened since bambi took over as president. He has sown only division and has done little to nothing to do anything about mending black/white relations.

I go to the same Dunkin Donuts near my house all the time. Frequently - not daily, but frequently - a car will be parked or idling, directly in front of the door to the store, so that customers must walk around it to go in and out from the parking lot. This is inconsiderate, as well as illegal (it is a no parking/fire zone).

I have seen this many, many times over the past several years, done by many, many different people. And yet, ALL of them, I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE, had something in common. Anyone care to guess what it is?
