Pope Francis urges revolution to save earth, fix 'perverse' economy

GOPUSA Editor's Note: This story was included in today's lineup so that people could be made aware of the comments of Pope Francis. Reading this story is also a good exercise in sifting through liberal bias. Just note the sentence above for one example. According to the Associated Press, people who disagree with the liberal notion of "climage change" (used to be "global warming") are now called "climate doubters." VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Francis called Thursday for a bold cultural revolution to correct what he calls the "structurally perverse" economic system of the rich exploiting the poor that is turning Earth into an "immense pile of filth." In a sweeping manifesto aimed at spurring action in U.N. climate negotiations, domestic politics and everyday life, Francis explains the science of global warming, which he blames on an unfair, fossil fuel-based industrial model that he says harms the poor most. Citing Scripture and past popes' and bishops' appeals, he urges people of all faiths and no faith to undergo an awakening to save God's creation for future generations.

It's an indictment of big business and climate doubters alike. "It is not enough to balance, in the medium term, the protection of nature with financial gain, or the preservation of the environment with progress," he writes. "Halfway measures simply delay the inevitable disaster. Put simply, it is a matter of redefining our notion of progress."

Environmental scientists said the first ever encyclical, or teaching document, on the environment could have a dramatic effect on the climate debate, lending the moral authority of the immensely popular Francis to an issue that has long been cast in purely political, economic and scientific terms.

Veerabhadran Ramanathan, a Scripps Institution of Oceanography scientist, said the encyclical would be a "game-changer in making people think about this."

"It's not politics anymore," he said, adding that science is usually difficult for people to understand but that people respond to arguments framed by morality and ethics.

The energy lobby was quick to criticize the encyclical and its anti-fossil fuel message.

"The simple reality is that energy is the essential building block of the modern world," said Thomas Pyle of the Institute of Energy Research, a conservative free-market group. "The application of affordable energy makes everything we do - food production, manufacturing, health care, transportation, heating and air conditioning - better."

Francis said he hoped his effort would lead ordinary people in their daily lives and decision-makers at critical U.N. climate meetings later this year to a wholesale change of mind and heart, saying "both the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor" must now be heard.

"This vision of `might is right' has engendered immense inequality, injustice and acts of violence against the majority of humanity, since resources end up in the hands of the first comer or the most powerful: the winner takes all," he writes. "Completely at odds with this model are the ideals of harmony, justice, fraternity and peace as proposed by Jesus." http://www.gopusa.com/news/2015/06/18/pope-francis-urges-revolution-to-save-earth-fix-perverse-economy/

Guess this shouldn’t be a surprise.

MMCC has always been more of a religious faith than anything else.

First by flood, then by fire....on his timetable, not ours. Guess that doesn’t count.

KYPD (and cool.....is it getting hot in here?)

Argentina has been steeped in 70 years of collectivism, big government statism and socialism. They go from man-made economic crisis to economic crisis. Those connected to the government, or who can game the complicated rules, lobby the bureaucracy and work the system get rich. The rest of the country gets poorer.

People in the country, and I’m sorry to say, the Pope is included, see this massive gap, and not knowing enough, simply swallow the “social justice” nonsense of the left - which then gaurantees the same cycle continues.

I think the Pope has forgotten that he is supposed to minister to his flock.

POPE FRANCIS “BOLD CULTURAL REVOLUTION”

Pope Francis gave full support to the global warming hoax which is the “Golden Calf” for the environmentalists’ cult that has been enriching the false the prophets of that new religion (Albert Gore was the high priest of that cult. Now they have a Pope)

“Satellite and balloon measurements show there has been no warming for nearly 20 years. Some land surface measurements can be induced, after much statistical “correction,” to show a modest warming. Either way, whatever has happened to the climate these past two decades has not been major. The models that generate climate predictions are terrible. For decades, the models have predicted high temperature increases. The reality has been very different: temperatures have been (more or less) flat. The models are not just bad, they are lousy (look at this picture and judge for yourself). Not only that, but every scientist used to know that when a model made such rotten predictions, the theory on which the model relies must be false.” (Leaked Laudato LamentedCrisis Magazine ^ | June 17, 2015 | WILLIAM M. BRIGGS)

To declare that men can control weather changes is the epitome of arrogance, even for a Pope. The Sun, and in first instance God are responsible for weather changes.

By the fruits you will know the tree, by their advisers you will know the leaders.

Pope Francis is more radical and dangerous than Obama. As soon as he took power he rescued from the trash bin of History the Marxist liberation theology after was proscribed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Francis called the most radical of its leaders, Leonardo Boff, who was silenced by H.H. Pope John Paul II, as one of his adviser for his encyclical that tries to give moral support to the global warming hoax, but instead Francis destroys his credibility and demeans the respect for the Catholic Church.

Another of Francis’ top advisers is German Prof. John Schellnhuber, a well-known Malthusian and climate radical.

Francis rescued Marxist liberation theology from the trash bin of history, now he wants to exhume Mao’s Cultural Revolution.

In Pope Francis’ call for a “bold cultural revolution” to confront climate change, he is using classic Marxist terms (Mao’s Cultural Revolution and Marxist liberation theology) to promote a political agenda aimed toward the advance of “collectivism, redistribution of wealth, and global government.”

You want to fix the Earth? Promote real Capitalism. Capitalist countries, on the whole, produce more goods in a more environmentally friendly way than non-Capitalist countries.

You want to fix the economic system so that the rich don’t exploit the poor? Promote real Capitalism where people choose goods and services based on market factors and not crony Capitalism or corrupt state planning.

Whatever you do, don’t institute Communism or Peronism, which drive people into abject poverty.
