Donald Trump announces his 2016 candidacy - yes, really!
Canada Free Press ^ | 06/16/15 | Robert Laurie

Sadly, the American dream is dead. But if I get elected President I’ll bring it back. Bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.” That’s the word from billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump who, just moments ago, announced he was running for President. I don’t have much to add to his bombastic speech, so I’ll simply say this. Whatever happens with Trump’s candidacy, it was incredibly refreshing to hear someone who is unapologetic about their wealth and success.

2012 gave us a mealy-mouthed Mitt Romney who was constantly trying to shirk the fact that he was a well-heeled success story. It felt like he was always trying to deny his financial reality in a phony effort to be “just like you.” Trump isn’t doing that at all. As he put it, he’s “the most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far.”

He’s famously claimed he has “a Gucci store worth more money than Romney.”

...And I love that. To hell with the “wealth-shamers.” It’s about time SOMEONE decided to stand up and be proud of their own success. You’re whining about “income inequality” because you’re unsuccessful? Sorry. That sounds like a “you problem.”

Trump has a trophy wife. So did JFK. Jackie O was a model, a clothes horse.

I don’t know if Trump is a Republican he has had to give checks for business sake to both parties to get access.

I like the fact he is for making our present trade agreements null and void. Everyone is screwing the USA, manipulating currencies.

China won’t buy our tech, after they stole it, intellectual property over there is a joke. Bush and Clinton shipped our jobs to China and Mexico. Trump wants to get it back

Trump is for getting jobs back by getting energy prices down using our own oil. Squeezing the Foreign cheater, lowering our taxes so Americans have money to spend and out kids can find jobs.

Trump is brutal deal maker. We need someone who knows how to win. If Trump gives our guys a look at what someone with a spine sounds and looks like maybe it will be beneficial for the wimpy weenies of the GOP.

Reagan wasn’t wimpy. Lee Atwater wasn’t a wimp and these guys won big.

Thanks, but I’m not at all interested in your comments; Trump’s are what matter, and they show he has a long history of being a liberal.

Also Trump would build Keystone and bring home the 2 trillion dollars US corporations have in foreign banks.

That is a lot of stimulus money. Taxes raised from overseas could give tax reform to lower tax rates.
Trump points out USA pays the worlds highest tax rates.

As a businessman Trump know which regs just increase pain and do nothing for the economy.

I would also rather have Trump than Jeb, Rubio, Paul.
Trump will put the heat on Hillary.

He wants to repeal Obamacare and replace it with a much better and lower cost system. I say Trump is not the man of 20 years ago and he will implement a conservative solution. He made some sense to me. Still thing Cruz, Jindal and Walker are the best running. But Trump should be consulted on issues that he knows about.

But who is after him now that he is speaking his mind? Those very people he once greased the palm of to get ahead. The left hates him and are out in front of bashing Trump. Like him or hate him and I have been on both ends of that spectrum, he made some good points in his speech today. Nobody talks about how China is going to pass us up as the Number one economy and is taking our jobs away. Nobody talks about how much we owe other countries and how China and Japan and sustaining us by loaning us money we gave them in the 80s and 90s with interest. Nobody is willing to deal with Mexico, our borders and the fact mexico is also taking away jobs. Those issues are off the table. Ingnored by the lap dog media.

Excellent work!

I think Trump is single minded. Money. Otherwise he seems thoughtless on so called “social” issues, because maybe he deems they have nothing to do with his money, or the economy.

He is truly no-party, belongs to no one. Under Boehner and McConnell, and the RNC, that may not be a bad thing. He acts as out of control. But, is he really?

Thanks! You're right, Trump is all about money...and women. :-)

I don't believe he is loyal to any party or any ideology. Whatever makes him a buck. But I do believe he leans very far to the left.

The one thing I like best about any candidate is that they will not accept money from Rich donors. Trump said he will not accept money from lobbyists or rich donors, which in my book gives him more freedom to do what’s best for the country instead of whats best for the rich donors. I am so disappointed in senators who voted for the Pacific countries trade pacts wanted by their rich donors.

That can be a double edged sword. That moron Michael Bloomberg for the most part used his own cash to buy his way into office and that was exactly the way it was seen, that he bought the office. Contrast that to having the people contribute to the campaign and you see the difference.

“The sad part is when these liberals say they have changed there will always be some who will be fooled. Sad indeed.”

Oh, I see. No one should ever change. They should forever remain pro-abortion if they started out so. Never switch to an anti-abortion position, like so many people of my generation that I know did. They started out pro choice, they are now rabidly against abortion. But according to your convoluted thinking, they should stay forever what they once thought. Then Ronald Reagan should have stayed pro abortion and a Democrat. And all Dems should forever remain Dems and never switch to Pubs. Geez.

You are right about Bloomberg, but he NEVER EVER said anything conservative he was going to do. Bloomberg was a liberal before election, said liberal things during campaign, and acted on liberal agenda during his mayorship.

What Trump is saying now basically is “America First”! I am watching comments on DU and Yahoo boards, and the democrat’s heads are exploding over Trump candidacy. If Trump is a liberal and democrat, why are almost every democrat poster so unhappy over Trump running?

For honest disclosure, my 2 top candidates in the primaries, as of now, are Walker and Jindal. However if it is Trump versus Hillary in general, I will enthusiastically pull the lever for Trump.

I didn't say no one, Trump included, "should" ever change their position on abortion; that was your word. I just don't believe he did. You're free to your own opinion, of course.

And Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan.

I’ve never been impressed by the comments on DU. Amused, maybe. Impressed, no.
