FREE TRADE
Free trade is a vital policy necessary for maximizi ng economic growth. In recent decades, Americas commitment to expanding trade has resulted in lower costs for consumers, job growth, and higher levels of productivity and innovation.
Rick Perry has a long record of public statements in support of free trade. NAFTA is the largest job stimulus packet to come along this decade,
For Mexicans? Yes.
And “job growth” doesn't mean much if full-time jobs are being replaced by part-time jobs.
I'm seeing all of that in my neck of the woods. I'm sure NAFTA is not the sole cause of the misery. But I'm betting it's a good part of it.
A Trade Pact helps country with lower wage costs. It makes it easier for them to export stuff to higher wage countries.
Trade Pacts also help corporations because they can move the factory to the lower wage cost country and then import the goods without tariffs. Just observe how many corporations have shifted factories to Mexico. With TPP, factories will move to the Pacific rim countries.
No wonder all the politicians who are slaves to their rich donors want these Trade pacts. Who gets screwed? The middle class as usual.
Nailed it.
La Raza Rick does nothing that does not benefit the foreign invaders from south of the border.
“Who gets screwed? The middle class as usual.”
By middle class, do you mean those who compete with the 3rd world laborers making shoelaces for the designer shoes worn by the upper classes?
But he looks dreamy in cowboy boots. Get your priorities straight South.
I wish he’d realize that I have a heart.
Don’t forget the Marie Harf ‘look how smart I am glasses! Or his chest hair! (The ‘Chest Hair’ thing recently contributed by a FReeper’s who’s screen name escapes me at the moment!) And he likes guns! (okay, I’ll give him that one!!) Senor LaRaza Ricarrdo Perrynista......friends to all folks illegal and muslim!
And he shoots coyotes. From what I have heard, that makes him some sort of super politico. And dreamy too.
No no no, when factories move abroad, many middle class jobs go with them.
After NAFTA passed, the Big Three Auto makers all built plants in Mexico and started making cars; they were excellent quality. American manufacturers all had good years building the machinery. Detroit also had more hiring. I was in the industry then, and NAFTA did not cost any US jobs. It helped create a lot of jobs.

He came out against it because it actually puts constraints on the President making the deals and he wants more uncontrolled/unrestricted NAFTA-type crapola.
As a generalization, NAFTA most benefits the border states and the Ohio valley/Great Lake states.
That pretty much sums it up for free trade. But since Cruz supports it, that makes you a bad person with a few on this site.
Can you explain the explosive increase in our trade deficit with Mexico after the inception of NAFTA? Or the complaints of businessmen who could not compete with cheaper labor in Mexico?

Bingo!
There was a chart posted, here, recently that showed how much Mexico’s economy has increased and their unemployment has decreased....as compared to our same rates. We’re supporting 29 (or more)% of their people...and they get the benefit of JOBS in Mexico. Wow...what’s not to love?
