Convicted killers Richard Matt and David Sweat escape
Am I the only one who allows himself to think, if only for a moment, that this is kind of impressive? I know, I know . . reality has to hit you and do so quickly. These are very dangerous men who have killed before and almost surely would have no compunction about doing so again if they think its necessary to help them evade capture.
So its not with approval, but a sort of horrified respect, that I observe escape from maximum security prison using power tools is quite the dubious achievement. Quite dubious. And quite the achievement:
Convicted killers Richard Matt and David Sweat pulled off the kind of prison break that would normally be fodder for moviesexcept theirs might be even more astonishing.
Armed with a complex plot and power tools, the pair did what no one else has been able to do in the 170-year history of New York states most populated prisonescape from its maximum security walls.

I agree. Knowledge of the schematics would have made the break easy. The cuts were very clean and speak of someone with skills.
That post it note was pre drawn. Too clean and precise to be drawn freehand and in a hurry.
This is why they outlawed silencers for power tools
I hadnt heard that, nor any mention of it here on the east coast.
That means that other inmates must have been aware that something 'out of the usual' was occurring.
Correctional Facilities are designed for conformity and uniformity, and redundancy.
Other inmates must have known what was going on ..
My understanding is that they were both in an "Honor Block", working in the Tailor shop, and were allowed to wear conventional street clothes, rather than inmate greens.
