In an article out today in the New York Times, as well as the Clarion Ledger, it has been announced that Rick Perry, the former governor of Texas, has hired yet another Barbour for his presidential campaign. Austin Barbour, the brother of Henry Barbour, has been tapped by Perry to run his Super PAC. Unfortunately, this is not Perry’s first Barbour hire. As was reported back in September, Perry hired Henry Barbour to advise him on his campaign for the White House. And judging from the Barbour Brothers’ conduct in the Cochran/McDaniel race, specifically the despicable actions they took last June, one must wonder if this will be the strategy used by Perry to win the Republican nomination, assuming he can, at the very least, remember what departments he wants to cut this time around. For Mississippi’s True Conservatives, the supporters of Chris McDaniel, this should be the death knell of any support for Perry.

This means Perry isn’t even my 5th choice in the race.
That said, Barbour is an old-skool insider-wheeling-dealing Boss Hogg. The Barbour-Trent Lott brand of retail politics works well in Mississippi (where the voters and politicians TALK "Conservative", but their economic philosophy has more in common with Marx than Hayek)but never translates well to the National Stage.
When are his operatives going to descend on FR? I shudder to think.

Perry has spent more time in Iowa than any other candidate and made some friends and earned respect for his support of veterans, but almost no one considers him their first or even second choice for president.

Yes. As opposed to a hero like Cruz, who voted for Obama’s SECRET, read SECRET trade bill, that turns American sovereignty over to an international cabal, that, according to Senator Sessions, can rewrite the trade bill on its own,and voted for Obama’s Iranian agreement that allows Iran to develop atomic weapons/ICBMs. Perry’s employing of a political director is SO much more severe a blow to the United States than a mere vote to gut the Constitution by a candidate who swears allegiance to the Constitution.

Well, no. I was elated when he won his senate seat; I believed he was sincere. It is his votes, remember, his VOTES, that upsets me. I’ve never even mentioned his wife’s CFR membership. I’m just puzzled by the amazing illogic of people on this site, swallowing a camel (ignoring Cruz’s votes) and straining over a gnat (disdainful over Perry’s hiring). Might I use you as an example? Instead of refuting what I posted, which I would like to see you do, you immediately accuse me of a “bizarre visceral hate” for Cruz, when I merely listed two of his crucial votes. Now, if you can persuade me and get me through these two votes, then I can join you. Also, do you really believe, in your heart, that H. Barbour is a threat in his corruption, with all that is out in the news? Maybe Perry is showing unusual insight by hiring an operative that can get an obnoxious candidate like Barbour elected. Political operatives are hired guns, just like lawyers.

Don’t give up on Cruz, FRiend. He’s just trying to avoid being in the minority on the 90-5 type Senate votes that the Dems, MSM and GOPe would use to brand him “extreme”. He’s in real danger of being ground down by that tag team and needs to not give them any new ammo for the moment.

I just read Drudge and it links to articles about the trade deal. Now the push is on to hurry up and get it passed before anyone can find out what it in the bill. Thank you, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and all the Republicans. The country has been betrayed.
