QUOTAS KILL? Philly Death-Train Engineer Was Dubiously-Qualified 32-y.o. Gay Rights Activist

Was this kid pushed up the ladder to fill some quota
Merely because he had the right fruit-factor?

We already know that Barack Obama has politicized every damn government agency he could find -be it IRS, DHS, or Park Service- utilizing them to inflict his nuttier-than-sqirrel-poop agenda on us all, punish enemies, and reward political/financial supporters...
but do you recall Amtrak's recent (silly and funded with your tax dollars)
gay-outreach program...?

As if riding the train is somehow different for these people-
can't just sit back and enjoy the view like everybody else.

As with other valuable voting blocks, it seems Obama is attempting to sew-up the one-issue gay vote for the Democrats long-term: now done with the electoral cycle, he's suddenly 'evolved' on same-sex 'marriage', is slowly pushing-through more favors/gestures for gays, so it would make sense that he'd like to slide some jobs/quotas (even if unwritten) their way... especially in a traditionally macho career -you know- like soldier or train engineer.

Not hard to imagine the now-politicized Obama Amtrak chiefs favoring lesbians and gay guys for promotion to the driver's seat- like airline pilots, almost certainly a 'man's world' in the past, just the kind of thing that
progs love to hate.

BUT have you ever heard of an airline stewardess getting promoted to pilot?

Just theorizing- but Brandon Bostian clearly didn't know what the hell he was doing, and we do need to know how this 32-year-old kid got the job, performed in training, previous record -were there unwritten quotas applied to the hiring/promotion process- and let's talk to some of the other more qualified and/or experienced people Amtrak could have put in the driver's seat rather than this reckless killer... something tells me he wasn't the best choice.

Kevin Marshall, -'Diversity Initiatives Director' at Amtrak- recently boasted that
40% of the people in the organization are a 'person of color' -cca 8000.

It would be nice to see what else (about who else) he said in a related 'diversity' report, but Amtrak has taken that document
[
Amtrak welcomes diversity aboard] off their site for some reason... hmmm:
Amtrak employs more than 20,000 people and understands the value of diversity as a social and business imperative. Its corporate culture includes a commitment to diversity in all areas of the organization. "Key to maintaining this appreciation is Amtrak's diversity training program, which makes clear the corporation's position on diversity and provides the background, information and resources necessary to work successfully in a diverse environment," Marshall notes.
"Our diversity training program is designed to be an ongoing journey that emphasizes key principles of diversity and inclusion. Since its inception it has been an important vehicle used to make certain that employees have a clear understanding of the company's expectations for sustaining a diverse, inclusive environment."
Amtrak's numbers are impressive. Overall, a quarter of its employees are women and two out of five are persons of color. In the management ranks almost a third are women and a third are persons of color. African Americans make up the largest minority group, followed by Hispanics.
For new hires in Amtrak management, 37 percent are women and 37 percent persons of color. After African Americans, Asians and Hispanics are best represented.
These are the priorities at an outfit -with a CEO appointed by Obama and underwritten by taxpayers- that loses a billion dollars a year- does anybody really think gays weren't being quietly promoted as well?

Helluva price to pay for being stylish-

We all started somewhere.

Agreed, but we don't start with positions of senior responsibility fresh out of school.

His LinkedIn page says he was a conductor from July 2006 to December 2010. Even giving him the benefit of doubt, it's still only a 2-3 year window of being a conductor before becoming an engineer. Hardly enough experience to qualify as senior employee in charge, and really not enough time to properly advance through ranks.

I think you know that, too.

“That’s not what I said, and you know it.”

Yes it is Mr. I’m smarter than you.

You say you’ve been a railroad design engineer for 40 years and you still don’t know you don’t throw the full brake on in a turn?

This guy is a disgusting pile of puke. And that’s what he makes me want to do every time I’m subjected to seeing his incredibly ugly and bizarre face. Obviously he was “driving distracted or impaired” in some way. How can you not know you’re doing twice the speed limit, and that there is a dangerous curve up ahead?

"Gays on average have higher IQs and make more money than straights"

Then you know what a 'gratuitous assertion' is.

Do you have a source for that statistic? Or is it somethign you just tell each other...?

But if the end result is that an unqualified person was made the driver of this train, isn’t that the exact same result as AA?

“Diversity an Inclusion” are the code words for ‘promote gays’

Just like “sustainability” is the code word for ‘agenda 21’

I’m 32 and single and so many of my generation are f—kups and failures.

I'm 32, married with a kid, and have spent most of the last decade working on systems that will prevent accidents like this one, so I'm not willing to assume anything about this guy right off.

Except that like most fatal train accidents in recent years, it's going to be operator negligence. Read about the accident at breakfast yesterday and told my husband it would be speed related.

There is no reason to believe that there was anything outwardly unqualified about this guy—he was a college grad and he went the preferred route of working in the railway environment for years before becoming a conductor.

Likewise, there is nothing to suggest that he was given preference in hiring due to being gay.

maybe you don’t know not to throw on the brakes INTO a curve, if you want to stay on the road (or train track)

maybe he was ‘distracted’ while driving? is there another ‘diversity’ promoted person in the room with him?

What is the average age of someone promoted to engineer?

I don’t know, but I’d think it would be better to have someone relatively young rather than old—faster reflexes and all.

Certainly there’s no massive information load of value to be gained only by lengthy experience.

Nobody should be rushing to damning conclusions the way people here are.

We don’t know at this point if some undiagnosed medical issue, such as a seizure or even sleep apnea, may have been involved.

Dude, there are a dozen sources that pop up on the first page of a google search for “gay IQ”—that you can’t manage that suggests to me that you’re, er, straight.

Seriously, it is common knowledge—and it also fits with my observations in the world. (And no, I’m not, either.)

OK you’ve clearly outed yourself here as a young, naive, gay promoter.

You really never learn the absolute value of experience until you have some.

he was a college grad and he went the preferred route of working in the railway environment for years before becoming a conductor

Maybe you meant to say engineer?

From his own LinkedIn page, he went straight from college (BSBA in Business Administration, General) to being a conductor. Four and a half years later, he became an engineer.
