Mom: The Millennial in your basement is a member of the Socialist Army

Mama's me-first millennials

There’s no longer any doubt about it, that 30-something son surfing the ‘net in his underwear in Mama’s basement, only coming out to join the latest protest is a face-mask-wearing, sworn member of the Democrats’ Brave New World.

That his heroic grandfather sacrificed his life in World War II leaving him the lifestyle of careless ease he leads down in the basement means nothing to Mama’s me-first millennials.

The howling of the Fabian wolf lured him over to the other side when he was still chewing bubblegum in Grade School and nothing you say’s ever going to bring him back to belief in God and patriotism.

The stats are in: “One third of millennials view socialism favorably”, according to YouGov.

All your worries, all your nagging, all hopes your children would finally find the truth were for naught.

Yes they are, because they never learned how to do anything worth being paid, and so now they want free stuff for nothing.

Get the God part right and everything else will come into its rightful place too. It’s easy to see God’s only role in our lives as providing a nice existence in this world, a road as free of nasty bumps as possible before we slide gently out. In which case it becomes “intuitive” to want the institution we call socialism. It puts committees of men in God’s place. The fact that said men are going to muff it badly never comes into consideration.

As for a juncture of God-and-patriotism ... forget it.

33% view Socialism favorably.

Is the converse true, that 66% don’t?

So perhaps not as depressing as one may think.

I’m resigned to the fact that this country is one election away from becoming France. And it’s Millenials who are gonna take us there. They weren’t around for the Cold War and hence have no concept of the dangers of Totalitarian Socialism. The Dems are gonna put Student Loan Forgiveness on the table to seal the deal.

I agree - the question is, do they feel they can do anything about changing the situation as statist government continues to grab freedom and wealth from US Citizens.

The freedom and wealth that matters most is that of the soul... get that anchored well in the kingdom of the Lord, and these other things will fade from importance.

This isn’t just some little philosophical game to make earth more bearable (an opiate of the people). It gets you a foot in heaven and gets heaven another foot on earth.

That 9% of the GOP with a favorable view of socialism apparently includes the overwhelming majority of elected GOP reps.

There’s a truism that most Freepers here understand that GOP pols tend to be further to the left than those they represent.

What some Freepers may not realize is that the same pertains among the Democrats—most elected Dem pols are also further to the left of those they represent.

America’s rise was unique, and so will be its final fall when that happens (I qualify it with “when that happens” because I refuse to rule out the role of heavenly hope at any given time).

It won’t be as bad as France. It will be worse. France never had as many resources. The more resources, the worse the mess when they are turned against us.

Well kick them out of your basement and let them learn how eell socialism takes care of them on the streets. One thing you learn when you’re homeless is reality; in the end you can’t depend on other people because they’ll fail you and the truth is you shouldn’t depend on them. The truth is unless they’re Christians or spiritual in nature they could really care less about your welfare most of the time. They’re too preoccupied with their own lives. That’s a harsh reality every socialist numbskull needs to be taught the hard way. Then they’ll understand their government cares nothing about and they’ll abandon this fantasy about Big Brother Government taking care of them.

This account makes sense. If you were the devil, where would YOU push? You’d grow an out-of-touch elite.

“....GOP pols tend to be further to the left than those they represent.”

“....Dem pols are also further to the left of those they represent.”

How do you think it came to be that both sides of the aisle are further left than the citizens they represent?

Ego is a constant trap for politicians. They really do want to think they can fix what is wrong. Rather than standing up for what was always right.

There are plenty of 30-something basement dwellers in our community who seem perfectly content with sponging off of mommy and daddy rather than attempting to live independently as an adult. Most of them drive fancy cars and have all the latest trendy accoutrements of their generation. The few who do leave the nest return in short order back to their den of security. The parents don’t seem to care what the long term consequences of this lifestyle are for their children.

A generation of dependents like this is tailor made for the allure of socialism. Just the way the Democrats planned it.

Nothing new. Many young people without much money think it is a good idea to take money from others and give it to them. Then they have to work for a living and don’t think so any more.

Not mine. Oldest one is done with college, married, and working. It's amazing what having taxes taken out of your own paycheck will do to your viewpoints.

Eldest wanted to be an art major. I said "think again, if you want me subsidizing your education, pick something you will actually earn a living at". Became an engineer.

A friend allowed his son to be a history major, and the son is still not working.

That's the impression I took away, also; 33% favorable seems low to me, if that statistic is true I would say that is cause for optimism.

That does not mean that the remainder of Republicans is conservative. Most of the rest are jellyfish that float along with the current. There is little difference really between the GOP and the Democrats. They are all for big government in the end.
