A nice first step.

This afternoon, a New York federal appeals court ruled that the NSA’s warrantless collection of domestic phone data is illegal. This will come as welcome news to those of us who would rather not trade freedom for a false sense of security.

As the New York Times reports:

In a 97-page ruling, a three-judge panel for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit held that a provision of the Act permitting the Federal Bureau of Investigation to collect business records deemed relevant to a counterterrorism investigation cannot be legitimately interpreted to permit the systematic bulk collection of domestic calling records.

In other words, “we can still do it. we will just ignore the law and when caught again go, “oops.””

Ha! Now they have to stop!

(is it just me,,,or does the fact that we all know to a certainty that nothing from courts, to tremendous popular opinion, will stop them,,,, does that say something a little creepy about our government?)

Instead of leaving Americans free, the Marxists would subject US to unconstitutional privacy violation to make Islamic jihadists more free and happy to kill us.

While I read the article at Canada Free Press, I don't understand how they include the FBI in the ruling on the NSA. I didn't read the 97 page ruling. Anyone care to read the ruling and explain the connection? Maybe I missed something in the article.

That said, I'm good with the ruling. So much of the Patriot Act needs to be reigned in. One of the biggest mistakes Bush II did was to establish the new cabinet post of Department of Homeland Security. If I remember, the point was for all the Fedgov intel/enforcement agencies to work together to minimize redundant intel gathering and to share info to prevent further attacks.

I believe are there are many concerned persons in our intel agencies and HAVE adverted many Muslim terrorist efforts. We see almost every week of some Islamist plot being busted. The DHS largess works on occasion but can't catch every radical in the USA or other Western countries.

There is no solution to the coming Beslan type atrocity in America until we stop importing and start deporting those who subscribe to Sharia Law. I believe that any person/government/institution in the US that promotes Sharia is guilty of insurrection and should be tried for such, or at the least, deported.

Islam is a scourge on humanity. I've written this many times and even listed their countless atrocities from around the globe. It's NOT a race problem since their atrocities happen all over the globe with whites, blacks, and asians involved. It's an obscene ideology cloaked in theology to enforce their will upon freedom-loving peoples.

Ever here of another totalitarian ideology that we bombed into oblivion with NO concern for collateral damage? Maybe it's time once again if we are to survive.

BTW, "God Bless Texas". They and other fly-over States are obviously getting fed up with these cult crazies. The war will probably start there when a mall, school, sports event, or large gathering gets bombed or mass shootings.

" I believe that any person/government/institution in the US that promotes Sharia Law is guilty of insurrection against our Constitution and should be tried for such, or deported. If military like Hassan at Ft. Hood, then quick courts-martial. Screw the attorneys...the Judge always has the option to move things along.

BTW, want to thank Jim Robinson for allowing mine and others' opinions about this Islamist threat to continue on his forum. The man sits in a wheelchair and has had leg amputations and shows more courage than any civilian I know. I put him right up there with Pamela Geller as a target. Actually, he was a target from years back way before anyone heard of Pam Geller.
