When the story of a Missouri man drawing his gun to break up a fight between teenage girls popped up on my Facebook wall, I was intrigued by the responses. Many, including some who claimed to be highly experienced shooters, were critical of the good samaritan’s actions. If you can’t break up a fight between teenage girls without a gun, you don’t need to be intervening. Consider these tales of two fights, one gun, and two very different outcomes.
The stories are amazingly similar. On April 26 at a skate park in In Farmington, Missouri, a fight broke out between what appears to be two teen aged Asian girls. As one of the girls pounds the other into submission, an unidentified man rushes in with a firearm drawn and separates them. Other teens are watching, like the one who video tapes the whole thing, doing nothing to stop the fight. No charges were filed and the identity of the girls and the good Samaritan are unknown.

Urban teens are rabid animals and breaking up a fight between them is dangerous.
Jr High and High schools are abound with punks...both male and female....lack of respect...bad or lazy parents....and the belief that no matter what the youth does...mommy and daddy will come in for the rescue.....and these idiots are going to college and expecting god paying jobs...then reality smacks them in the face.....and yet those of us that did the right things are paying for yet another generation of degenerates. ...saw this starting in 2006...even worst since Barry took office...

2. If this is a justified reaction to a fistfight I suppose the teacher in the other thread would have been justified to pull a gun on the fighting students. /s

Agreed, but I’d be more terrified of the kids who were just watching. It’s tribal and for all that guy knew the tribe would turn on him for breaking up their fun. He was taking a big risk. It’s sad to watch a generation be lost.
I’m thinking of that scene from Galaxy Quest where the cute little aliens turn out to be ravenous, deadly monsters.
Fletcher lives in the gun ban, riot-happy state of Maryland where his right to armed self-defense are severely curtailed. Just four days before the fight in Missouri, Fletcher encountered two teen girls fighting near his vehicle in Dundalk, Maryland. Fletcher made the decision to intervene and was quickly set upon by other teens who beat him nearly to death.
According to the GoFundMe page set up for Mr. Fletcher: “A 61 year old disabled resident in our community was brutaly attacked by approximately 49 students from a near-by school on 4/22/2015. His Injuries include broken eye sockets, a broken nose, broken ribs, bleeding on the brain, and many lacerations.”

Having been in a similar situation where I had to use a firearm, I can tell you that while the wolfpack will often scatter, the Type A personality types among them will seek revenge. I had to watch my back for months after that encounter, and even though I’m hundreds of miles away from where it happened and over 10 years removed from the incident, I still have nightmares about it.

If there’s no element of jeopardy in the fight using a gun to break it up is dumb. Two evenly matched girls engaged in mutual combat doesn’t rise to the level of deadly force needed which pulling a gun does introduce.
Bringing up a fight where a mob of girls were involved in changes the dynamics as a mob presents a new element.

I am sure he was willing. I would be, especially when interfering with a “family fight”. Happens all the time when a stranger gets involved and the combatants turn on the good samaritan. Just talk to some cops, backup is a life saver.
