As usual the MSM got it wrong: theyre all celebrating Hubbles 25th birthday today when in fact it is the 25th anniversary of his launch into deep space. I should know, as Hub is my twin brother:
I am a fraternal twin (female). My brother (Hub) is the mirror in the Hubble telescope.
We are Cassegrain reflectors of Ritchey-Chretien design, and were conceived in 1979 at the Corning New York factory when 2 conjoined blanks of ultra-low expansion glass were sandwiched around a honeycomb lattice. (I didnt mean to get into the sex stuff, but a lot of people are curious.) Our polishing was completed in May of 1981. I know that seems a long gestation, but keep in mind that we were specified for reflectivity in the ultraviolet range which means that we had to be polished to an accuracy of 10 nanometers, or about 1/65th the wavelength of red light! So dont even think about telling me that I dont see it all. From The Bio
And maybe you remember when we celebrated Hubs 20th anniversary with this special video Raj helped me put together: 2010 A Space Odyssey
And of course over the years Hub has sent me many special greetings, all containing images he captured without benefit of any of the trans-imaging techniques or butt shrinking nano-optical tricks that I must frequently employ in my earth-bound job.
Here are a few of my favorites from Hubs portfolio:
Towers of Creation from the Eagle nebula
And this, The Eye of God, from the Helix nebula:
Viewing our little planet from Gods Eye certainly does put things in perspective. When I see this, I somehow believe that in the scheme of things we will manage to get through our current dark night and see the break of day again.
So keep that in mind the next time youre tempted to slip into despair; remember that the Won is just a little man, standing in a very big field.
And rejoice at the glory and grandeur of Gods universe.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HUB!
AND WISHING YOU MANY, MANY MORE!
My God! Its full of stars!

Excellent!
The mere thought of the size and beauty and grandeur of the Universe is awe inspiring and testifies to God’s
Glory and Majesty.
I love God’s paintbrush!
The Bible equates the distance across the entire known universe with the distance across God's hand:
"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?"
-- Isaiah 40:12a
Ping to my post #5, above
Beautiful verse. Before I got saved I was really into astronomy. So looking in the bible to see hints about galaxies and galactic structure, quasars, pulsars, black holes, neutron stars, gamma ray bursters, etc etc and what do I find.
Near the end of the 4th day "He made the stars also".
Now I see that as glorifying Him in that the universe is amazing and to Him it was trivial.
How about the Hubble Ultra deep field implying there are some 100,000,000,000 galaxies with an average of some 30,000,000,000 stars in each. And all different, like humans.
Psalm 147:4 He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.
We know stars by spectra and people's abilities all differ and can be thought of as spectra when you see test scores with highs and lows.
1cor 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
God is Awesome, His name is Wonderful!
Indeed.
And it seems the more one learns about His creation, the further one is from having an excuse for denying not just His existence, but even His attributes and nature.
This is wonderful stuff. I’m an amateur astronomer and I rejoice when man gives his Creator glory. I get so confused when I see all the “prominent” scientists tell us their is no God!
Bttt
