Washington Post columnist claims opposition to Obama is 'insurrection'
The Houston Examiner ^ | April 4, 2015 | Mark Whittington

Colbert King published an odd piece in the Washington Post on Friday that was equal parts hysteria, constitutional ignorance, and alternate history. He suggests that resistance to some of President Barack Obama’s executive orders amounts to nothing more than “insurrection.” Indeed, he compares this resistance to the actions of white southerners to President Abraham Lincoln. The assessment is bone chilling since the proper response to insurrection is to send in troops and start shooting people, just as Lincoln did when the Southern states tried to secede and form their own country.

King focuses on legislation being passed by the Arizona legislature that seeks to nullify some of the more constitutionally suspect executive orders regarding illegal immigration. One can argue whether this move is the most appropriate strategy, but it hardly constitutes raising the Stars and Bars. At worse, the legislation will set up a court battle over whether the supremacy clause, which states that federal law trumps state law, also applies to an executive order.

In the meantime, a number of states are seeking relief in the federal courts, asking that the executive orders be overturned as an unconstitutional overreach of executive power. This little bit of “insurrection” will likely be decided in the Supreme Court and not on the battlefield....

One day soon people like him are going to get what they want. They won’t like it much. Not at all.

Dear sir, do you really think the name matters to us at this point? We’ve falsely been called racist, hate-filled, misogynist gun nuts who want to kill people in the streets, etc etc etc... so when we get to the point where we need to defend the last remnants of our country (the ONLY country that was based on the ideals of independence and self-reliance). allow me to inform you, we do not give one flying banana what terms you use to describe our efforts.
