So-called religious freedom laws in Indiana, Arkansas and other states are merely thiny veiled discrimination that harkens back to the days of segregation, according to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Theres something very dangerous happening in states across the country, Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed on Monday.
The days of segregation and discrimination marked by Whites Only signs on shop doors, water fountains and restrooms must remain deep in our past, the head of the worlds largest company wrote. We must never return to any semblance of that time.
The op-ed from Cook, who is gay and grew up in Jim Crow Alabama, served as one of the fullest throated criticisms to date of the rash of state laws, which claim to protect peoples religious freedom but which opponents say would allow businesses to discriminate against gay people.
Last week, Cook had tweeted his opposition to a law signed by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R), known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Pence, a potential White House candidate in 2016, has rushed to defend the law. Over the weekend, he pressed the importance of his states hospitality and said that the law would stand.
In recent days, tech companies including Yelp, Salesforce and Angies List have opposed the law, and the NCAA pledged to reconsider holding future events in Indiana if the law was allowed to stand.
Americas business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business, Cook wrote.
"Thats why, on behalf of Apple, Im standing up to oppose this new wave of legislation wherever it emerges."
I’m looking for an excuse.
Convince me on Android over iPhone, if you have the time...
Don’t; have much time right now but quickly.
Depends on what you need it for.
For games, video’s music movies you can get it all free unlike Apple where you have to set up an account.
Anything on your computer you can put straight onto your Android with Apple.
If you need files and folders then you can save files right form a folder on your PC unlike Apple products. You can create custom apps on your android and save them to your tablet .
If it is taking photographs then you can do that like Apple but with Android you have water proof phones and they do not break even under water to take pictures.
There is much more but I have to go.
Before I leave my kids have told me there Apple phones break down much more , especially the newer ones than the Androids, plus Apple is for Apple and a pain in the ass to use with PC at work, home, tablets etc.
Equating homosexuality with race diminishes the nobility of the civil rights movement.
My first smart phone was Apple but I’ve never looked back since I switched. I’ve never cared for the pretentiousness of Apple nor the air of superiority often displayed by their fan boys but then again I’ve never been a brand loyalty kind of guy nor someone who pays more for something that is thought of as a “status symbol”. Growing up I couldn’t afford to pay for status let alone pay a premium for it. I do prefer Android because it offers a more open ecosystem just as I always preferred PCs for the same reason. Apple does do somethings very well but its not worth trading my soul to a fascist sob like Tim Cook.
It is going to happen and the self styled elite power classes will find themselves with no where to hide when the common people come for them.
I switched from Apple some time ago and it depends on what you use it for and how much you have invested in the ecosystem already. Its relatively easy if most of what you have invested is music. There are manual ways and then there is a great app called doubletwist that makes using your itunes purchased music with your android and it also supports Airplay.

The one area that you can’t really do much about is your library of purchased apps. If I were you I’d do an inventory of your must have apps and do a quick check for Android equivalents. You are going to find most apps will also be available on Android. A few years ago that wasn’t always the case. There is only one app focused on speech therapy that I can’t get on Android which is the only reason I purchased an Ipad mini.
Id wait till the next round of android phones are out before switching. There is a big move towards higher quality metal frames and 4k support which should be released before the end of Summer.
