Rick Perry and Scott Walker get more impressive with time
Washington Post ^ | March 26, 2015 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 03/26/2015 7:56:46 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....A month or so ago, there were legitimate questions as to whether Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was up to speed on foreign policy and could project the gravitas we expect of presidential nominees. In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, he seemed a far cry from the candidate at CPAC. His answer on the Taliban trade and news of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s desertion charge was solid......

Likewise,he explained why he prefers the term “safety” and gave an apt overview of what is happening in the Middle East:

Safety is something you feel inside your chest, you feel in your heart. And I think increasingly, Americans feel a sense of concern that particularly if they have family members or loved ones that ever want to travel again, they see France, they see Canada, they see other places around the world, not just the Middle East, and it’s a safety issue. And they, and then I would just add to this, as they look at this more closely, they see a president who’s drawn a line in the sand and crossed it, who called ISIS just a year ago the jayvee squad, who called Yemen last fall a success story, who calls Iran now a place where we can do business. Think about how screwed up that is. I remember the movie in the ’80s, “Trading Places”...you know, with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy, it’s like Iran and Israel are trading places in the sequel. In the eyes of this president, our ally is supposed to be Israel. Our adversary has been historically Iran. And yet this administration completely does it the other way around. We need to call radical Islamic terrorism for what it is,and a commander-in-chief who’s willing to act.

His has no trouble saying he would “absolutely” walk away from a faulty Iran deal.....

It would appear that the way they plan to champion Ted Cruz is by attacking Scott Walker.

Sarah Palin's supporters did the same thing here in 2012; attacked anyone they believed might be a threat to her non-candidacy, particularly Governor Perry. It was off-putting. I found myself in the odd position of liking Sarah Palin but loathing her cheerleaders.

Would it make you feel better if Cruz went along to get along with moderate Republicans?

I heard Rush Limbaugh put this crap "no experience" meme to bed quite well the other day. I'm going to link you to the explanation, because he said what I think, but better than I could.

Rush

"...If Obama had run a state or if Obama had been in the Senate longer, he'd have been okay? Obama would have been a better president if he had just been in the Senate longer, maybe been a governor? Is that all this is about? This is horse hockey, folks, that Barack Obama is what he is only because of a lack of experience? I don't know how you come to that conclusion. Barack Obama is who he is because of his ideology.

Barack Obama could have come straight from the community organizer office and become president and been exactly who he is. He could have serve the governorship, served as governor of Illinois for two terms, become president and be the same president he is today. This argument that we're gonna disqualify Ted Cruz because we've learned how bad an inexperienced president can be. Obama and his foibles, Obama and his presidency that is a disaster has nothing to do with the fact that he's inexperienced. It has everything to do with who he is. Ditto, Ted Cruz. It's who he is that is the determining factor here.

"........You see, a conservative who leads, who is unafraid, unflappable as Cruz is, and who is principled, who can relate, who can articulate and who has a mission, can do a great deal as president, whether he was a governor, a senator, or whatever....."

I don’t know. Can we take the risk of having Cruz get in there and just sorta coast through because nobody will allow his agenda to get through. I guess the last 8 years has been on auto pilot but do we really want another 8 years of auto pilot? I don’t think it is worth the risk when we have other candidates that are doers. If Cruz was our only candidate then I could see taking the risk and supporting him but we have some great candidates who actually have conservative results something Cruz has zero of.

Naps, what I think is that you aren’t interested in hearing any facts about Cruz. You just keep repeating the same false meme, over and over.

IMO Cruz is by far the best candidate. YMMV.

Walker is still my first choice but he,Cruz, Rubio and even Rand Paul are far preferable, to me, to Gov Perry.

I guess that is why we all have one vote. I would suggest you use your vote very carefully. Good luck and may the best candidate win........unlike 2012 where I was pleading FREEPERS to pick Santorum but I got push back and it led to Romney....let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself although it probably will.....some are just not smart with regards to politics at all.

Romney was awful.

As awful as Romney was, Obama is worse. I still can’t believe the voters dumped a successful business man for another round of the community organizer. I don’t think I will ever get over that. I sorta understood why voters picked him in 2008 because they wanted change after Bush but 2012...no way. We will probably win 2016 because we have history on our side.....2008 we did not have history on our side which one party always changes after 8 years except in 1988.

How many illegals and fraudulent votes pushed his numbers into the win, though? The IRS reported that Social Security records show that 6.5 million people in the U.S. have reached the age of 112. That’s a minimum of 6.5 million possible fraudulent voters. What about the millions more SS numbers that have been stolen that are under that age? When you think about the amount of fraudulent SS numbers (the gateway to voting) in this country, it could turn an election if those people are voting.

Yes O is the worst but I hate how the Grand Old Party is full of RINOs.

I guess I’m a crazy Tea Party guy. I’m kind of taking a liking to Cruz but I also like Rand Paul.

I know FREEPERS don’t like Paul but I want to see someone repeal government layers and give us a strong national defense at home.

I would support a major war if its intentions were to actually defeat terrorism and reestablish the Middle East.

Guys like John McCain and Jeb Bush are just as dangerous as some of these Democrats. Its time to restore limited government and the constitution to the government. We need to return most of the powers government has to the states.

FREEPERS are a segment of the population

Some don’t like Paul.

Some don’t like Walker

Some don’t like Cruz

Some don’t like Palin

Some don’t like Huckabee

Some don’t like Perry

But I think we all don’t like Obama which is great.

So why is the so called “weak candidate” Cruz beating Perry in every single state and poll?

Even beating Rand in many polls.

Cruz probably the only candidate who almost has a lock on a big state primary.

"I guess that is why we all have one vote. I would suggest you use your vote very carefully."

Gee, thanks! Don't know how I've made it to this point without your sage guidance.

" Good luck and may the best candidate win........unlike 2012 where I was pleading FREEPERS to pick Santorum but I got push back and it led to Romney....let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself although it probably will.....some are just not smart with regards to politics at all."

Yes, I know, you were fixated on Santorum, but he was never going to be. Now you're onto Walker. But since you brought up the concept of voting wisely, you should check out the recent threads about Walker's latest amnesty flip-flop. Looks like he's back to wanting a "pathway to citizenship" for illegals.

Yes and everyone against Santorum had a party when he was knocked out. Sad I believe. He did come in second place. Anyway, yes I saw the latest bull crap article about Walker’s so called flip flop.....you do love the media big time when it bashes Walker, but hate the media when they bash Cruz......I just wonder sometimes how we will survive as a nation.
