Has Claire Wolfe been awfully quiet the last few years, or have I just been missing what she’s been writing?
The article is full of praise for Switzerland. But it is worth noting that since 2007 a Swiss reservist has NOT been permitted to keep his rifle’s ammunition in his home. Sure, he has ready access to his rifle, but all ammunition must be kept locked up in the local armory.
I’m told that rifle ammunition is still available for private purchase. So a reservist could buy a box out of his own pocket, and keep it in his house.
But the armory rule shows that even Switzerland is drifting towards stupid.
You could add Bermuda to the list of smug little anti-gun nations that could be successfully invaded by a relatively small force, but who’d want it?
“Sandy Hook, New Jersey”?
Despite that he’s right. I have an old friend in New Zealand and the national mood regarding armed self-defence resembles the female lead’s in “50 Shades of Grey” attitude toward lovemaking.
Unless you’ve got some serious money involved, methinks leaving the USA for more freedom-favorable conditions is unwise. Only here exists such a deep-seated fierce sense of freedom. The leadership may be turning downright oppressive, and taxation obnoxious, but only here is “FMCDH” and “MYOB” downright axiomatic. Switzerland may be armed & independent, but individuals are still considered part of the European mindset of government first. New Zealand sounds more like a liberal enclave which just hasn’t gotten mugged yet - and will punish the individuals when it does.
My experience in NZ is ancient history from 1987 when I was there for a brief visit. Agree with what has been posted here about NZ. Remember, they never allowed U.S. nuclear naval vessels to dock in NZ ports. There does seem to be some level of friction between the Maoris and Anglos. Their branch of the Anglican church has driven off the cliff in full embrace of homosexual inclusion.
***Watch the The Last Valley, an under-appreciated film masterpiece from 1971,***
bought and watched it last week.
From what I have read, NZ now has a racial problem. it seems the Maoris have learned VICTIMISM and it has gotten bad. They now have become an “in your face” problem almost like Ferguson, MO.
This also reminds me of some people who moved to the peaceful Falkland Islands in the early 1981 to get away from the warmongering nations.
Then Argentina invaded.
You can run, but you can’t hide!
My friends in New Zealand say the Chinese are already in the process of buying up all the real estate, so invasion may not be necessary...
NZ has clean air and clean water. That alone must be very tempting for the Chinese elites...

I spent one of my R&R sessions in Auckland. Though their military is generally very good and the NZ SAS is superb, it'll be a case of too little, likely applied too late. The Aussies will very likely have their own problems to sort out, and the chances that the US will be in a position to assist the ANZACS in the next decade do not look promising.
And the enemy has been entrenched in the region and has attacked sporadically since 1915, for a bit more than a century now.
God help the ANZACS, and especially, the Kiwis.
That's just a marketing problem. Throw a few crocodiles in there and call it a petting zoo.
A slight historical perspective (and it fits with the excellent movie you recommended) - "you can take it, but can you hold it?" is the classical question in these scenarios, and there is a positive answer - yes, you can hold it if you dispose of all of the original inhabitants. In an isolated valley or a small island nation, yes, you can dispose of the original inhabitants. Cheery business.
