Roger Pielke, a professor of environmental studies at the University of Colorado, and six others are under investigation by Congress regarding testimony they've given on the subject of climate change.
Pielke, a believer in man-caused global warming, can't quite figure out why he's the object of a witch hunt.
...................... What am I accused of that prompts being investigated? Here is my crime:
Prof. Roger Pielke, Jr., at CUs Center for Science and Technology Policy Research has testified numerous times before the U.S. Congress on climate change and its economic impacts. His 2013 Senate testimony featured the claim, often repeated, that it is incorrect to associate the increasing costs of disasters with the emission of greenhouse gases.
The letter goes on to note that John Holdren, President Obamas science advisor, has highlighted what he believes were serious misstatements by Prof. Pielke. (For background on this see here and here.) My 2013 testimony to the Senate is here and House is here in pdf (Q&A following hearing here and here). The testimony was the basis for my recent book on Disasters & Climate Change.
Pielke is no stranger to controversy. Last year, Nate Silver hired him to write for his blog Five Thirty Eight, and his very first post caused climate hysterics' heads to explode:.....

Lysenkoism ..."Lysenkoism is used metaphorically to describe the manipulation or distortion of the scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion as dictated by an ideological bias, often related to social or political objectives."
".....Support from Joseph Stalin gave Lysenko even more momentum and popularity. In 1935, Lysenko compared his opponents in biology to the peasants who still resisted the Soviet government's collectivization strategy, saying that by opposing his theories the traditional geneticists were setting themselves against Marxism. Stalin was in the audience when this speech was made, and he was the first one to stand and applaud, calling out "Bravo, Comrade Lysenko. Bravo." This event emboldened Lysenko and gave him and his ally Prezent free rein to slander the geneticists who still spoke out against him.
Many of Lysenkoism's opponents, such as his former mentor Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov, were imprisoned or even executed because of Lysenko's and Prezent's denunciations.
On August 7, 1948, the V.I. Lenin Academy of Agricultural Sciences announced that from that point on Lysenkoism would be taught as "the only correct theory". Soviet scientists were forced to denounce any work that contradicted Lysenko's research.
Criticism of Lysenko was denounced as "bourgeois" or "fascist", and analogous "non-bourgeois" theories also flourished in other fields in the Soviet academy at this time (see Japhetic theory; socialist realism).
Interestingly, perhaps the only opponents of Lysenkoism during Stalin's lifetime to escape liquidation came from the small community of Soviet nuclear physicists: as Tony Judt has observed, "Stalin left his nuclear physicists alone... [He] may well have been mad but he was not stupid."....
...From 1934 to 1940, under Lysenko's admonitions and with Stalin's approval, many geneticists were executed (including Isaak Agol, Solomon Levit, Grigorii Levitskii, Georgii Karpechenko and Georgii Nadson) or sent to labor camps. The famous Soviet geneticist Nikolai Vavilov was arrested in 1940 and died in prison in 1943....."

2-04-2015: .....Environmentalists have long argued that human population growth is straining the environment and the climate. In the 1960s, academics like Paul Ehrlich and current White House science czar John Holdren pushed for population control methods to stave off ecological disaster.
Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society, Holdren and Ehrlich wrote in a textbook. Few today consider the situation in the United States serious enough to justify compulsion, however......Activists claim birth control the key to stopping global warming
Holdren is Bolshevik garbage.
You can tell him I said so, and maybe he can convince some Inquisitors in the Congress to haul me before them.
I do not remember belief being a step in the “Scientific Method”?
“Pielke, a believer in man-caused global warming, can’t quite figure out why he’s the object of a witch hunt.”
But the Leftists are big fans of the witch hunt! What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. What goes around comes around.
No one expects the global warming Inquisition.

Hyperbole?
“I am one of 7 US academics being investigated by US Representative Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) who is the ranking member of the House of Representatives Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.”
I have doubts about the accuracy of this statement...
Even given his status as the senior dem on this committee, can he really conduct an investigation of any consequence - without the explicit permission/direction of the committee chairman - a Republican?
Maybe it’s because he hates Hispanics.
Let the lefties jerk each other around again. Then make it public.
Global Warming on Free Republic
Yes, it's there - right after 'consensus'...
