Rudy Giuliani had the unmitigated gall last week to question President Obamas love of country. This has been a standing question about Obama since he ran for President in 2008. How can you love a country that you believe needs to be fundamentally transformed? Its not like Obama wants to fundamentally transform the United States into some romanticized version of the past. He wants to fundamentally transform the country into his own image. In many ways hes been successful. We have a large number of Americans who believe court orders are mere suggestions to be ignored and that the executive branch has the power to legislate. These are fundamental transformations away from the Constitution. They also indicate that the President doesnt really love his country, unless the country follows him.
Giuliani doubled down on his remarks by pointing out that Obama was influenced by communists in the past. Giuliani is right of course, Obama was influenced by communists. His mentor growing up was Frank Marshall Davis, a communist. His mother was a communist. He got his political start in the living room of William Ayers, a communist and a left-wing terrorist. The left-wing press largely covered up for Obama but these connections have been discussed ad nauseum online. The big question is why did it take Giuliani all this time to point any of this out? Maybe the bigger question is why have Republicans been so shy about questioning Obama in this manner? McCain danced around some of this in 2008 but he never hammered Obama over his communist ties. Since assuming office Congressional Republicans have been almost completely silent.
The medias response to Giuliani has been predictable. How dare anyone question Obamas patriotism! The office of President is to be held in such high esteem that the media feigns moral indignation when anyone questions Obama. Interestingly when then Senator Obama called then President Bush unpatriotic, the media cheered. The double standard is obvious. The media wont be asking the President why the country he supposedly loves needs to be fundamentally transformed. They wont be asking Obama whether leading from behind in the middle east projects a strong America. They know the answers and they know middle America wont like them. To protect Obama, they ask nothing. Of course if Obama was a conservative Republican they would be all over him.
Giuliani compared Obama to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the latter of which clearly advocates for his countrys position in no uncertain terms. In some ways Netanyahu and Obama make for a good study in contrasts. Netanyahu has very clear international goals for Israel. Hes clear and uncompromising. If need be, Netanyahu will defend his country alone. Obama on the other hand is never clear about the international goals of the United States. He creates red lines and retreats from them. He goes on unnecessary apology tours and refuses to acknowledge Islamic terrorism. No one has any idea what his goal is with ISIS. Giuliani is a neo-con of some sort, which is why hes quick to defend Israel. However he offers us a good comparison for Obama in Netanyahu. No one would question Netanyahus patriotism, its clear he has Israels best interests at heart. With Obama, hes so unclear about his goals and hes so quick to retreat that it begs the question what hes doing. Theres no reason for retreat, theres no reason for lack of clarity.
Ultimately the unanswered question surrounding Obama is why, if he loves America, does he want to fundamentally transform the nation? Unfortunately because the press acts as his cheerleaders and because the Republicans are wimps, we wont get an answer to this question. At least not while Obama is still in office. Even if Obama addresses it in a memoir its likely he will accuse his questioners of racism rather than actually answer the question. No doubt Obama will not be then asked whether questioning Bushs patriotism is the product of racism. The Presidents foreign policy directly plays into this question. The United States has projected strength abroad for generations, Obama has shifted to a policy of international weakness. Worse, our international goals used to be clear, now they arent. What of this has to do with Obamas communist upbringing? Were not going to find out anytime soon. Giuliani is asking all the questions that should have been asked in 2008. It begs the question why the Republicans are seven years late.
Rudy is only saying what most people feel in their hearts but are afraid to voice. I stand with Rudy.
They ALL have the shadows of Bill Gwatney, Andrew Breitbart, Michael Hastings and a slew of other dead’s body (killed) hanging over their heads!!!
Any further questions???
Where have the Republicans been for the last seven years? Obama declares he wants to fundamentally transform the country and there was literally no response from the GOP.
Absolutely. When a Republican is in the White House then it’s a free for all from the media.
Yes, and now that it is out in the open, G-d damn any craven venal Republican whore who takes the other side... like a certain little poofter from South Carolina, for example.
Now is the time. Either solve the problem or America dies of cancer. Choose which side, Republicans and Democrats:
Your party, your own perceived political interests, or your country. One only.
SSB? Help us out.
The timing of this may seem long overdue to us, but it really couldn’t have been better timed for the majority of low information Americans. They were finally ready to hear it. I don’t think it would’ve been accepted had it been said a year ago. Obama has pushed things over the line this last year and it made people who otherwise wouldn’t pay attention stand up and take notice.
the Star Spangled Banner man! LOL
The flak is always the heaviest ... when you're over the target!
What do you think your wife’s reaction would be if you said, “Honey, I love you but I want to fundamentally transform you”?
Well written, Leo. And we won’t accuse you of trolling for hits !
