No no no! Stay away from Texas! We got drunk drivers, the weather is too hot, people are mean!
Stay away especially if you are a Northeastern or Californian liberal!
I visited some friends in Phoenix in the early ‘90’s and had my wallet stolen, left my in pants pocket inside their condo, while swimming in a pool. No thanks.
“But weve got a string of three or four 75 degree days lined up, so I take a deep breath and chant a few OMMMs.

Boston area here-———3 below right now.
.
One place I visited in the 90s that I liked was Grenada. No slums, lots of land. The government gives everyone a parcel and a water hookup and they build their own house, and there’s stuff growing everywhere that’s good to eat. No welfare for able bodied people, if you can’t find a job you can work for the government fixing the roads. Most people find something else. And they even had pictures of Ronald Reagan hanging in the stores.
Green Valley, Arizona. 20 miles south of Tucson. Cooler than Phoenix, Air Force base in Tucson for those who are retired military, 95 percent Caucasian, everyone speaks English, no helmet laws, very Second Amendment friendly, no traffic jams like up in Phoenix. We love it here. And then there is Green Valley Recreation, which includes 13 pools and rec centers and tons of activities. People are very friendly here and we’ve made lots of new friends.
Thank you.

Phoenix is great if ya don’t mind living like a lizard.
15 years in Upstate NY. I paid my dues! Once in a lifetime was plenty.
If you can get out of Boston, it sounds like your ski resorts are having the best snow in decades. None here in the Sierras.
Fair point. “Unincorporated territory.”
Payson, AZ is not a bad choice. It is at 5000ft so is much cooler than Phoenix. It has a decent hospital and is 1hr 15min from Pheonix International.
Real estate is not over the top expensive.
Most FReepers apparently hate it, even without ever visiting it, but I love Hawaii.
...
Hawaii has one of the highest concentrations of liberals in the country, but I’m glad you found a nice spot.
Idaho. Winters can be tough but the other nine months are wonderful. And it’s a very red state.
U of P hospital comlex now reaches harrisburg. first rate healthcare.
I recomend Dyersburg, TN or Little Rock, AR.

Believe it or not a couple of my family members are leaving this area next week for some skiing in Colorado.
.
GOD willing I’ll be back home in rural Tennessee in the not too distant future.
Three out of four seasons in Phoenix are great.
Low cost of housing when compared to southern CA, four seasons, two hospitals, Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, and Sears, two in-town casinos.
At least seven gun stores last time I was there.
