U.S.-Cuba talks are getting more and more interesting. The Castro regime wants Guantanamo back, essentially the naval base, since the city of Guantanamo has always been part of Cuba, compensation for the U.S. embargo, and the cancellation of Radio & TV Marti.
It won't happen.
Another unresolved issue is the status of U.S. nationals living in Cuba, i.e. fugitives of U.S. law. We've all heard about Joanne Chesimard, who killed a police officer in New Jersey and was granted asylum in the island. However, there are others, and apparently we don't have a clue or didn't bother to ask the Castro regime for a list. The Castro regime should have a pretty good idea of who they are because they had to issue some kind of residency status to them. I don't believe that they've been living as illegal immigrants in the island.

It’s basically a non-topic, without any ability to move forward.
Some team will spend all of 2015 working on some treaty which the President can sign by early 2016 and actually visit Cuba. He’ll return to find that the Senate won’t approve the treaty (less than twenty votes is my guess). He’ll move ahead with a limp treaty (unapproved) and simply install a new US embassy in Havana with 200 state department employees by the end of 2016, thus relieving Switzerland of the responsibility of running “our” interests in Havana.
I should note here, that the embassy sits there from 1961....still our property...and renovated back in 1997. Some comments indicate that you just need to flip the lights on, and put a new sign up...and you’d be back in business.
It’s simply something that a number of Sunday morning chat forums can talk about...without engaging on the ninety-nine negative topics that exist with the current administration.

Wouldn’t be too sure. Jimm’a Carter, prior to Obama, the worst president in U.S. History, gave away the Pannama Canal Zone.

Carter abandoned the Monroe Doctrine, and Obama has murdered it. Red China controls the Panama Canal, the U.S. kowtows to a Commie regime in Venezuela, Zero negotiates in secret with Commie Cuba, an affront to Western freedom for 55+ years. Beyond disgusting.
Obama had 50 plus years of apologizing and groveling to do in those 18 months

Simple, Obama’s ultimate goal is to give the US Navy base at Gitmo back to the Cubans, so the Chinese/and or the Russkies get a base in the Caribbean, 90 miles off our shore. Obama is the ultimate traitor.
