No, a .380 would not be my first choice, or my second choice. But if a .380 is all that is available, well....

Oh and by the way, I have Comanche ancestors.

But I don’t wear it like a merit badge, and I particularly don’t wear it like a chip on my shoulder. Why?

Because first, last, and foremost, I’m a proud AMERICAN. Not a German-Scottish-Irish-Comanche-American. Just an A-M-E-R-I-C-A-N.

Thanks! Very tasteful. Some subtle bending in the intro without allowing it to approach “country.” You dialed way back on the highs throughout, leaving plenty of room for the guitar.

Around 3:40 or so you fill like an organ where the cello sneaks in. It’s so rich I’m not sure there ISN’T an organ in there.

Well done! You know what you’re doing.

Well, you’re right about one thing.

You are nothing to spend time on.

I didn’t know that until now.

Thank you very much! Neil liked the way I could play string trio parts. I was using my Kline 12 string Universal guitar. That low string is my cello string. There are no strings in that recording,,,, only me duplicating the string parts.

"That low string is my cello string"

Ok, I swear I can hear the bow. How are you processing the pedal steel signal?? (or.. what the heck is a cello string?)

“How are you processing the pedal steel signal?? (or.. what the heck is a cello string?)”

It’s not really a cello string, it’s just a string that is in the same range as cello. I am able to play string trio parts on the pedal steel. Cello on the low end, then viola, and on top, violin. Neil liked the way I could change voicings with my pedals. Strings can’t do that with the same sound.

A 380 wore inside the belt and 100 grain would penetrate clothes all day

I’ve paid attention to you guys since I got here—long after you, it is true—and I would have expected better from both of you.

Do you expect better from the NDN brethren? That should be the focus of your ire. Some seem a disgrace to the race, maybe the 10% who shame the 90.

I grew up in Moorhead, just across the Red River from Fargo. Both great towns but literally painfully cold. My dad used to say we had 9 months of winter and 3 months of lousy sledding.

Two of my nephews went to work up there.

The crime and the craziness caused the younger one to go back home to Washington.

Lots of drugs, booze, fights, and gunfire in the nights in the shanty towns that have sprung up.

There is no “good advice” at how best to survive in that environment.
Just leave.

No disagreement about expecting more, and the disgrace by a few.

Although I would think the percentages might not be quite as generous as you suggest.

I wasn’t standing up for the perps, not at all.

Moreover, below zero temperatures tend to solidify some lubricants

When I was stationed in Germany with the Army in the 80's, we went to Graff during the winter for our gunnery exercise. It got so cold that the .50's would freeze solid and not operate if we used the standard lubricants. We had to bring them inside the vehicles, let them thaw, wipe off the lubricants and put on a thin coat of a special arctic lubricant. If I remember correctly, the temps were in the -40 F range.

Yep - I know it’s not really a cello string. ;-)

I’m just curious because I’ve never heard that sound come out of my GFI (not that I play it that much).

Are you using a thumb pick when you get that “cello” sound? The attack sounds soft.

Thanks for your patience...

Great explanation, but I still don’t like the operatic voices.

I think it is more the manner of "opera" singing that can intrigue, and not all of it is of the 'bellowing' type.

Try this one then:

Operatic Singing

Could be a good opera, perhaps, with a bit of work (as he posts from the Opera browser, LOL). :)

Or, try this one on for a different take:

Ode To Joy

From one instrument to several, then lots of voices that definitely do NOT sound like shouting.
