Deep question: why hadn’t Communism/socialism been tried in the ancient world?
For a very good reason. It is a child of the Age of Enlightenment (1650s - 1780s), but more so, it is a *parody* of Christianity.
The atheistic philosophies began in earnest in those times, placing mankind at the center of the universe, yet the King James Bible (in England) and the French Bible of the time permeated these philosophers work.
They hated God, but loved the mythology of the Bible, so tried to co-opt it to their purposes. Broad elements of what is known today as socialism, such as radical environmentalism, their hatred of civilization, the pursuit of the New Jerusalem on Earth, are all corruptions and perversions of stories taken from the Bible.
When laws are outlawed only outlaws will have laws....
Laws loose meaning when you have too many.
But if you require a license for everything goverment workers will have a pension.
So I propose the longer a person holds elected office the less they get in pension.
I hereby also propose that a congress critter must memorize all existing laws before they can add a new one.
