I was tutoring at a student's house, and I was mistaken for a cleaning lady.
I have been mistaken for someone who cares.
Once in Paris I was mistaken for a French prostitute. In fact, once at a hotel in Portland someone asked me if I was available.
Oh boo hoo....POOR POOR ME!
I’ve been mistaken for a yard men a couple of times.
In fact, one time I took off work because the yard needed a serious deep clean. Mexican yard men came by and threatened me and told me this was “their neighborhood.”
I was a busboy as a sophomore in HS. Once, an older white-haired lady wearing fur and gem-encrusted eyeglass frames called out to me- “Oh boy...”, me being the “boy”. I went and got her some more water and that was that except for the waitress’s not sharing any of the tip with me!
I am white and I have been mistaken for:
Valet
Grocery clerk
Best Buy employee
Waiter at a wedding
I’m sure there are others but, unlike Obama, I don’t pay that much attention to them because I don’t walk around looking to be offended.
