One of the student survivors I worked with, Jenna*, was gang-raped by five fraternity men early in her freshman year. Despite the severity of the assault and injuries she sustained, Jenna still experienced a feeling of personal responsibility. Looking for affirmation, she sought out peers and told her story. Sadly, each and every one of the friends she reached out to responded with varying denials of her experience; these responses worsened her feelings of self-blame – that she must be confused because that fraternity “is full of great guys”; that she must have made them think she was “down for that”; questioning how no one else at the party could have heard what was going on if she was telling the truth; or discouraging her from seeking help because “you don’t want to be one of those girls who has a reputation” for reporting “that kind of thing.” These statements haunted Jenna. She told me that they made her feel crazy, and made her question whether her own understanding of the rape was legitimate. Survivors who receive disaffirming responses to initial disclosures are more likely to experience negative mental health consequences as wellii. These negative and victim-blaming responses from her peers reinforced Jenna’s sense of fault, and prevented her from coming forward to the University’s administration or the Police. When she finally sought assistance from the Dean of Students’ office, after struggling and nearly failing out of her classes for two semesters, it was difficult for the university to conduct a meaningful investigation because much of the evidence had been lost, and witnesses were more difficult to locate.

Translation: Emily Renda, U.Va.’s project coordinator for sexual misconduct, policy and prevention, and a member of the governor’s Task Force on Combating Campus Sexual Violence, said she didn’t question Jackie’s credibility because it fit The Narrative so beautifully.
She is also on the Whitehouse task force with Kathleen Sebulois.

“So through none of this process have I ever disbelieved Jackie. “

“I don’t even know what I believe at this point.”
Renda appears to have connections in high places all the way to the whitehouse. She is tight with the UVA president Sullivan. It looks like she was being setup as the next Sandra Flock. I don’t know all her connections or how she was anointed but it appears she pushed this story at Rolling Stone. Or this thing was probably all setup from the beginning with the whitehouse pushing rolling stone to do this story and using renda as the new Sandra flock. They were hoping for another round of congressional hearings with republicans questioning their stories. Another war on woman.
Some coincidence.
It fit into so many 'narratives'. I think it was an incestuous shared agenda-fest. A clique. From the Weekly Standard:
"Moving in a reverse pyramid from the specific to the more abstract, they decried the fraternity system, privilege (the “money-fraternity complex”), and the rape culture of the South, including Thomas Jefferson for his relations with Sally Hemings. The charges went higher and higher up the ladder of generality until the sex crime committed at UVA became a confirmation of the basic theory of privileged Western male oppression .."And, remember, the libs wanted this issue to increase turnout of young women in the last election.
What I'm waiting for now, re: your post, is the story that the Senate was the first to be fooled by the Jackie story.
