"The last trick is that the employees guns have steel bullets."

18 U.S. CODE § 921 (i) outlaws for civilian use a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium....

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a good wheel gun. I do not understand your reasoning.

We once again see what kind of idiotic morons are stupid enough to rob a gun store. I guess when they cased it out they didn’t notice there were armed people on the premises.

There are some gun stores in the area that don't have armed employees or allow customers to carry - doesn't make a bit of sense to me. If one were to walk into a store and see weapons on the hips of most folks in it, they wouild not be so prone to attempt a robbery.

Quite simply, not enough rounds. A year or so ago there was this woman trapped in the attic with an intruder pursuing her. She emptied her wheel gun and the guy was still alive. Darren Wilson, a trained police officer, needed 10 rounds to stop his assailant. If he'd had a wheel gun, the gentle giant would have killed him. The FBI learned its lesson in the 1986 Miami shootout and got rid of its wheel guns.

Wheel guns are great if you're into cowboy shooting. But as a personal defense weapon, their only place might be as a backup gun. With my Glock 23 and two spare mags, I have 40 rounds at my disposal. And even if you have a couple of speed loaders, you only have 15 or 18 rounds max, and the average person can swap out mags much faster than the average person can eject empty casings and reload by hand or with speed loaders.

Bottom line, a semi automatic is a much better choice for personal defense, especially when faced with someone high on drugs, or multiple assailants.

> Is there a thug so stupid as to fire a gun while in an “air lock” style door?

These thugs are attempting to rob a gun store. Q.E.D.

Darren Wilson, a trained police officer, needed 10 rounds to stop his assailant....I’ve posted the whole story on FR so this is the short version. Us old cops were at the range and some rookies showed up with autos. The first round of firing had all the old wheelmen hitting 5-6 and 6-6 in the middle ring all killing shots. The rookies all fired sixteen shots each and the high kill ratio was three and usually one kill for the twelve rookies. I turned to my partner and said “Gonna be a lot of damage and innocent people killed in the near future.”

That's a training issue, and that can be fixed. There is no fix for running out of ammo in a gun fight.

You can apply the same logic to wheel guns. If training is your solution, then more training can mean fast reloading with a wheel gun, or accurate shooting.

I carry a semi-auto, myself, most of the time.

But it appears that in this video, the two with semi-autos got off the same number of shots as the woman with a five-shot revolver.

And no one reloaded.

It would be a nice gesture but I believe you need to get someone more publicly into the RKBA to do it.
