see my post 57. I too have met Dr. Ben. I respect him personally a LOT, and have defended him, but the more I know of his political views, the less I can tolerate them. Until now I am implacably against him for president, governor, Senator. It’s not pretty! It’s not one issue!.

He was a Democrat, before being an Independent and then a Republican. I think the Dem stuff is still influencing his thinking. And his mother!!! (shudder) She is so rude! omg. He’d better hide her.

Almost anyone else. If the last six years have taught us anything it's don't put an amateur in the White House.

Then I will delete my other comment. I thought I was quite clear:

But what I am intentionally vague about is that if things become what I now phrase as 'more than likely', tactics must change. It is a mandate. To not do so is defeatism...
There is a massive difference between "Not perfect" and "Doesn't know the most basic tenants of our founding documents".
Ben Carson did not know the most basic facts about the founding of our nation. That isn't "not perfect". That is willfully and dangerously stupid.
We have the Constitution we have because the Federalists and the anti-Federalists agreed on the Bill of Rights as a way to come to terms with their different views and because they all wanted to make clear that our rights are inalienable <--- That word means something of profound importance.
These rights aren't gifts from the government, and shouldn't be dependent on where you live. They are gifts from God Almighty that can't be taken away. That is what inalienable means. It is a huge, Earth shaking concept, and it is ours, as a nation.
You have to do something wrong to lose your rights and they should not be dependent on the whims of man. The Second Amendment isn't "optional" and there is no debate over whether or not it is among serious people.
Ben Carson's statements have proven that he understands none of that. It isn't a mater of "perfect". It is a matter of him being willing to compromise on the most basic freedoms God gave all men.
We're all imperfect and no candidate will ever be ideal, but lets try to avoid the ones who never bothered to read what the Founders wrote.

I don’t know what Dr. Carson’s opinion is on these topics. But, like you, I like and respect him. That’s why I hope he doesn’t run for office. Everyone has skeletons in the closet, and I just don’t want to have to find out what his are. lol
I don’t need American Thinker to interpret his words for me. I understand they were a long time ago too. But it just made me hold up and say Whoa!
His words made me think Whoa! too. :-(
I’ve met him and I was extremely impressed with him. But his mother!! What a rude witch she was.
