THE NEW YORK TIMES REDISCOVERS WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ Iraq War-era partisan fights aside, the real problem now is that they're under ISIS' control.

When it was first reported in May 2004 that Saddam-era chemical weapons shells had injured U.S. troops, the editors of the New York Times dismissed that, “Finding some residual weapons that had escaped a large-scale destruction program would be no great surprise and if the chemicals had degraded, no major threat.” Now, a major New York Times report on the issue has been followed by an editorial warning of “A Deadly Legacy in Iraq”: some 5,000 chemical shells have been discovered over the years in Iraq by U.S. or U.S.-trained Iraqi forces. Many more such munitions litter the wreckage of an old Iraqi weapons facility northwest of Baghdad, which the Islamic State captured in June.
It is widely believed that Saddam Hussein maintained no Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) after the 1991 Gulf War.
That was the conclusion of the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), which issued its final report on the subject a decade ago—in September 2004. The ISG claimed that already in the summer of 1991, just months after the war, Iraq unilaterally destroyed its prohibited WMD. The new Times report suggests that is false.
Indeed, those who had long followed the issue knew that the ISG’s conclusion couldn’t possibly be true—because the U.N. Special Commission (UNSCOM) destroyed tons of proscribed Iraqi material in the years after the war.

Yes and I bet 10 bucks Rove was behind the decision NOT to pardon Scooter Libby. I never understood why they left him hanging when the evidence was heavy that Wilson and Plame were lying attention seekers. Just another bad political decision.

While Joe Wilson keep his personal profits from Yellow Cake sales, and Scooter Libby remains falsely convicted.
I’m sure you remember quite well what you had for dinner on the 2nd Tuesday of February 2007. Basically Scotter got burned because he couldn’t remember things from way back. I think they knew the whole time it was “dick” armitage that spilled the beans.
It is a well known fact that not only did Saddam possess WMD, he also used them as well.
The only news story here is that the NYT finally admitted the truth.
There is no excuse for Bush and Cheney not fighting back and standing up.
That they allowed Rove to have so much influence on them is a sorry reflection on them.
I have no respect of GW Bush or Dick Cheney. Screw them.
WMD has to be a hush-hush. Because of the embarrassment, its origin is from the U.S. Also where do they think Assad’s stock pile came from in the first place??? Total corruption likewise gun-running scandal Benghazi-Gate. They think we are total stupid!!!

I’m getting so tired of Carl Rove. It is time for him to get off of the stage and this may be the hook to make him do so. Everyone always knew there were weapons. I just thought they were buried somewhere and impossible to find, which is probably the case for many of the weapons.

We went into Iraq in 2003 in the belief that there WERE such weapons.
It was such fine upstanding papers [/s] like the slimes who said Bush lied...
Where is the apologies for years of THEIR lies.
Along with hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who wanted a stable modern Iraq, tens of thousands of Christians slaughtered by the extremists who followed the left's bugging out, and thousands of American soldiers who died because the NY Times gave the jihadis hope.
