Because the press had made up its mind that there were no WMD's and would not change the narrative no matter what was found. Anything that we did find was dismissed as "aging remnants," not active stockpiles of recent construction. If we had found 10,000 atomic bombs, you know what the press would have said? "That doesn't count, because you never claimed that Iraq had 10,000 atomic bombs."

There is no excuse for Bush and Cheney not fighting back and standing up.

That they allowed Rove to have so much influence on them is a sorry reflection on them.

I have no respect of GW Bush or Dick Cheney. Screw them.
