There is no doubt that Tom Tillis, Karl Roves candidate in the North Carolina Senate race next month, was forced on us and many Tar Heel State conservatives deeply resent both of them. This is not an argument in favor of Tillis election, but rather an examination of the political rules both Tillis and the incumbent Democrat have to operate under.
A few cycles ago North Carolina became the last Southern state to flip to Republican control. The rampant corruption of the last Democrat governor and many of her cohorts in the States Legislature caused a blow back that brought Democrat control to an end. This wasnt gradual; it was sudden. When sudden change comes about it is because voters have awakened to the truth. Even the most somnambulant among them will remember the corruption of Bev Perdue and her party next month.
When North Carolinas Republicans were given the opportunity to re-write the election laws they made sweeping changes. They zeroed in on Democrat voter fraud and that will put Democrats at a disadvantage for years to come.
Passed without the vote of even one Democrat legislator, North Carolinas VIVA/Election reform law requires a government issued photo ID from everyone who tries to cast a ballot. More than this, the law prohibits the use of, ..student IDs, public-employee IDs, or photo IDs issued by public assistance agencies.
It ends Sunday voting a favorite of Black Democrats...

That’s “Thom,” not “Tom.”
Throw him back, and try to get a conservative in six years. Part of what makes Roberts bearable is that it’d be his last term, but Orton would last for decades.
The photo ID requirement doesn't kick in until 2016, so it wouldn't directly benefit Tillis this year.
Interesting point. All the pollsters’ turnout models are based on the old lax voting laws. So the RINO Tillis may be doing a couple points better than polls are saying.
Thanks
Some states allow polls to be open to accept votes on Sundays. Blacks who go to church and illegally hear Democrat political talks at church get charged up about the free stuff Uncle Democrat will give them and run to the polls to vote Democrat.
Watching the debate, and having watched Hagan over past decades, one was struck by her new and obvious attempt to appear "school-marmish" (a bow to her bosses in the teachers' unions?), authoritarian, and completely in touch with those whose views she should represent.
Instead, she came off as arrogant, overly aggressive, condescending, even, at times, so bossy she felt the need to tell Stephanopolis how to do his job. Perhaps her robot-like record of imitation of the President may have taken her too far into his lecturing style??
Now, will ordinary North Carolinians mistake that arrogance and condescending attitude toward Tillis as strength and concern for their and their families' personal freedom to "pursue happiness," unburdened by a know-it-all government? Or, will they see her performance for what it was: a well-rehearsed recitation of her campaign attack ads, with no facts to back up the accusations?
Being addressed as "Senator" prior to each question carries a certain advantage in itself, but the title also carries a voting record, and Tillis's consistent use of that 96% voting record for the unpopular President's unpopular policies constituted his best debating point.
From the different style of glasses and her suit, to the rehearsed and obnoxiously preachy style of lecturing her opponent for the Office, the Moderator, and the public, the "new" Hagan tried to take the attention off her voting record, the disastrous economic, foreign affairs, and other domestic policies of Obama, including "Obamacare's" upcoming policy cancellations and premium increases which are unpopular to common-sense North Carolinians and will, most certainly, be devastating.
One of Tillis's strongest points for TV commercials may continue to be using her own voice repeating the Obama lie of "If you like your doctor . . . ." and the months of duplicity which went into the Reid/Pelosi construction of that falsehood into the so-called Affordable Care Act which, as it turns out, is anything but, "affordable."
I watched it for 30 seconds he was to nice
The new law ends early voting on the Saturday before election day. It looks like churches could still conduct a Sunday early vote effort a week earlier.
Just so.
Many thanks..
