DEARBORN (WWJ) While U.S. health officials say theres no cause for widespread concern over Ebola, some in metro Detroit are busy with survival preparations just in case.
Garron Strickland, manager of Harrys Army Surplus in Dearborn, says preppers have been stocking up on package water, MRE meals, heaters, gas masks, and other items as they tend to do with outbreak or other concerns on the horizon.
Also popular, Strickland, said, are bug-out bags equipped with supplies to last someone a few days on the go....

I hope they keep editorializing like that so I can continue to stock up.

WWJ is owned by CBS. What else would you expect?

I hope Dallas “preppers” are buying all the bottled water they can get
if Ebola is in their sewer system, and it is, no telling how fast the virus will spread.

Report is from Detroit. Last I heard Detroit looked like a Liberian slum.

Between the infestation of Muslims, AND Ebola, does Dearborn understand who the bigger enemy is?

So what is the sneering know-it-all saying here?
That people who prepare for disasters are fools?
I’m not sure, because his message was sandwiched between two ads from the government saying we should prepare for disasters.
And how, exactly, does being an undistinguished journalism graduate who wound up working the local desk in Detroit qualify this snarky twit to have an opinion about anything?

"Improbable" is something I would like to entertain, even if it is wishful thinking.
If only the NIH director hadn't laughingly tried calm people yesterday on Faze the Nation by saying, "believe in Science."
"Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God."

“Improbable” does not belong in that headline.
Should read “Last smart people in Detroit prepare to survive O’Bola outbreak”.
Everyone else...back to the looting! Wait, there’s nothing left to loot in Detroit.

How many N95 masks are prudent per person? How many sets of protective clothing? How many days of food (LDS church recommends one full year and 2 weeks of water). Many preppers recommend at least 1,000 rounds of each caliber or for each weapon. But how much of everything other than food and ammo?

I've said it before and here I say it again:
You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become their serf. Me I don't want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly don't want to have to kiss some gubberment third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I don't want some jack booted thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I don't want to be shut up in with a bunch of zombies and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.

I might have to swing by and check out their solution regarding heat. That is one issue that I can’t seem to solve. My biggest issue is with regards to fuel.
