I’m not doing anything different but I live 1200 miles away and am always ahead of the game on supplies.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
It sounds like they’re going to wait for FEMA to show up with bags of ice and little tiny trailers to live in. Barry’s man made Katrina.

I’m 45 miles away and can’t really afford to do anything different.

I went through Katrina in Biloxi and no one gave us much of anything except in the immediate aftermath. Different cultures, I suppose.

This just proves that all Texan FReepers are already prepared.

I seriously doubt there are any freepers in that neighborhood.

Anyone who had any intentions of preparing did so long ago.......I know I did.

We have a store across the street from the hospital where the patient is being treated that is seeing an uptick in hand sanitizer sales, I think those hand sanitizers will kill bacteria but not a virus...Ebola is a virus. Get 90% alcohol, not 70%.

Saw it. People are free to choose. as I have posted before:
You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become their serf. Me I dont want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly dont want to have to kiss some gubberment third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I dont want some jack booted thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I dont want to be shut up in with a bunch of zombies and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.

Are you handling paper money?
Do you take note if someone behind you in line sneezes or coughs?
Would you enter a hospital emergency waiting room?

Conversely, several schools have asked for hand sanitizer citing cold and flu season.
More reminders to keep sick people home.

Well, of course. And we don’t need the government telling us how to do it.

You’re probably wrong about that.
The immediate area may not be high class, but there are affluent and very red neighborhoods nearby. Lake Highlands on the east, Highland Park and University Park to the southwest. Preston Hollow, the neighborhood where George W. and Laura Bush live, is just a couple of miles to the west.

The problem is that many cities in the US are no better than third world nations. The other problem is that the people in charge are total buffoons. The incompetence is mind boggling.

The demographics listed for the area the other night made the Chicago slums sound like Manhattan in comparison.
I am not from the area, just going by the published reports.

I bought a pile of extra canned cat food today. I already could go about year on my stash, but the cats need their stash.

My wife went to our local Walmart (just outside the Dallas city limits) to stock up on extra supplies today, and told me that there were hardly any shoppers in the store.
She said that all of the surgical masks and latex gloves were GONE.
I don’t think folks around here are all that complacent.
