Its busting out on to the wires today. Holder is resigning, effective as soon as his replacement can be confirmed.
He had to do this now, rather than wait until after the midterms, because Holders tenure as Attorney General has been marked by a pattern of activist Leftism and constitutional/legal abuse such as has never been seen in American history, and if there is a Republican majority in the Senate next year theyre not going to be able to confirm anyone like him. The current Labor Secretary, Thomas Perez, who used to be the head of the Civil Rights Division within DOJ, would be the first-round draft choice to replace Holder but Perez would never be confirmed by a Republican Senate majority.
But in a Senate Harry Reid controls, sure.
Erick Erickson has this absolutely right
The only reason Eric Holder would do this now, before the mid-term elections, is if he was pretty sure hed have to deal with a Republican Senate next year. A nomination and confirmation fight is just another area to be politicized before the 2014 mid-terms when the nation has turned against Barack Obama on a host of issues and Republicans are revving up attacks on both the IRS and Benghazi. It means a potential loss of control on another front when the Democrats are already on defense across the country. That instability does not happen unless the people in positions to control this decision see headwinds against them.
Eric Holder resigning is another sign the Democrats are worried about having to deal with a Republican Senate majority in January.
Understand this if you had an Attorney General who was interested in faithfully executing his oath of office rather than serving as the palace guard for the Obama administration, you would have special prosecutors investigating the IRS scandal, the NSA, the James Rosen surveillance case, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the GSA scandal and several others. The corruption within the administration has been covered up by Holder as he focuses his efforts on destroying school choice and stopping states from implementing highly-popular Voter ID laws is absolutely endemic, and it is unpunished because Holder keeps it that way.
This administration simply cannot afford not to have an Attorney General who will continue to hold the line as Holder has. And if it were to lose the Senate before replacing Holder, it would be forced to appoint someone either incapable or less-than-willing to serve as Obamas protector.
And Holder not sticking it out until after the midterms, as Erickson says, means Obama thinks hes lost the Senate. Holder goes, theyre going to make a run at appointing Perez or somebody like him and getting them confirmed in the lame-duck session and theyll hope thats enough to keep the house of cards from collapsing.
Now maybe we can address racial issues fairly without an active racist interloper pulling race out the the clear blue and injecting it into EVERY issue.
But me thinks his replacement probably wont be much better.
Even with all the help of the mainstream media the little communists couldn’t hold the senate. America continues to wake up hopefully.
If the republicans take the Senate, it’s my belief
Hillary will NOT run. Even if she was to win, she
would be starting as a lame duck for two years with
slim chances of seeing a democrat majority.
But who knows, she just might need the campaign graft
bad enough.
How long does it take to type up a Presidential pardon?
Presidential pardons should be eliminated.
If the republicans take the Senate, its my belief
Hillary will NOT run.
Point well taken!
The criminal Holder deserves to spend his retirement in a federal prison.
as if Republicans have been so tough on poor Eric all these years...
Contempt of congress will soon be upheld as well.
Check out this video:
Today Nancy Pelosi informed a distraught Congressional Black Caucus that Holder is resigning.
Hilarious!!!

ROFL! That is hilarious, I watched it a few minutes ago.
Sounded like Nan and a few others were ready to cry.
If you didn’t see the piece I posted earlier on the Fast and Furious court ruling it’s worth the read.

This is the Administration story on why he is leaving.
The only reason why Holder is stepping down is probably to save you know who.
That means someone has some VERY DAMING evidence. A control freak just does not step down unless it’s something that could bring down the Administration. My bet is that it has something to do with Fast and Furious.
A few months we’re probably going to find out something that should have put him behind bars.
Despite the nuked appointment filibuster, there still needs to be some time on the schedule to hold a cursory debate and a vote. So exercising the filibuster - and I mean a real hold the floor and talk talk talk one - on the legislation would have the effect of running down the clock on any appointments.
And to add, there’ll definitely be one (LA) and possibly a second (GA) senate runoff. Dems are going to be extremely reluctant to sacrifice those seats for an AG nominee, given the math for them to recapture the Senate in 2016. Look at how a number of Obama appointees have been defeated recently on simple majority votes.
Excellent article. Judicial Watch is doing great work.
Holder would get impeached if he was still around next year. better for the white house to get someone else in there now.
he would never be approved
Yes, JW has been doing great work. I’m anxious to see if judge Sullivan will grant JW partial discovery in the Benghazi suit, that could be really big if he does.
