The highly touted, government-subsidized, unreliable, intermittent and expensive "alternative power" schemes currently in vogue are nothing but a phenomenal waste of money

Thanks Doc. Not to mention it interferes with my "view shed". LOL! Well, not really since it'll be taxes and tariffs that pay the subsidies no matter where these monstrocities are erected.

Those of us who were around during Carter saw this all before. The energy boondoggles are just bigger this go-around.

Google “abandoned wind farms” then hit “images”. This is what America will look like when the subsidies run out.

The new pyramids. Monuments to a pagan belief system.Great point..but more Stonehenge than pyramids...
The Capital Building is like the pyramids...where they bury dead Egyptian overlords...except our overlords are dead in liberty and freedom...

Check the politics. Environmentalists learned from the linking of farm subsidies to food stamps that created an unbeatable coalition of welfare for all. They consciously strategized how they could turn more rural areas into dependency on money from Washington.
Our mistake is that few on our side strategize about anything. We are always in reactive mode.

LOL! I think the threat from these would be to flying fish and maybe some seaweed since they are 65 miles off the coast. Dolphins beware. No jumping and cartwheeling near these obstructions. Flipper! Pay attention.

It all comes down, as always, to physics, and the laws of physics are not suggestions nor are they subject to political debate or man-made laws. Wind energy is a diffuse and intermittent energy source and nothing we can do will change that. It means you have to do a lot of work to extract it in economical quantities (i.e., hundreds of square miles of 400-foot tall windmills, or land-gobbling solar panels). And then you need to pray to the weather gods for either wind or sunshine. Mankind has labored for millennia to free himself from dependence on the vagaries of natural phenomena, so when you need heat and light you have it, not when nature decides you might have it. The fact that we are destroying the infrastructure and technology that has enabled us to have reliable energy at economical cost in favor of unreliable and expensive, intermittent sources, is a choice we will long regret.

Will our planet not fly out of its orbit if we build too many wind turbines?

Here’s a very important point from the article. The power generated is not usable at this time, and no answer is in sight.
“In contrast to a steady one-source input, like from a nuclear or coal-fired power plant, a wind farm has many smaller sources with the output of each constantly varying with conditions like wind direction, wind speed and blade angle. Such variations lead to destabilizing energy-oscillations in the whole system that cannot be handled by the current converters. To make matters worse, the engineers have yet to fully understand the nature of the problem and to come up with any solution for it.”

Yes. Our planet will fly out of its orbit, when we've built enough wind turbines to stop the wind. Meanwhile,...

I did just that - THANKS! 14,000 abandoned (junk) turbines. Some of the images are just eerie, right out of a PAW movie.
Thanks again for the tip.
