We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan |

First paragraph should have been:
“The US Senate voted 90-1 early Saturday on a non-binding resolution to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Voting against the resolution was Sen. Rand Paul, arguing that the bill was a de-facto declaration of war.”

Rand Paul stands alone as the fruitcake of the Senate, just like his father.

Why did the Democrats vote for the bill? Did the bill have an amendment added to it which advanced the liberal agenda?

Any politician striving to compete at the national level knows that isolationist pacificism is a big loser in a national election.
Most people understand that the enemies of civilization are as dangerous as the weapons they can get their hands on. And weapons are everywhere for the taking.

I am as sympathetic as possible with the general proposition to try to avoid as many conflicts, wars as possible
Some conflicts, wars are not possible to avoid
and some are best dealt with while your enemy is still not fully armed (with nukes, say, and especially when he’s sworn to destroy you just as soon as he completes building his arsenal)
the federal government’s first duty is to defend America from its enemies
Rand Paul has disqualified himself from consideration for the Presidency.

He has called for smashing ISIS. We can’t be seen as the mullahs’ air force. But I do share his reservations about going around the world in search of monsters to destroy.
