That’s Bullcrap...he was going to college!!!
Not to mention he didn’t even play football because he was afraid he might hurt someone. So gentle.
A trade school....not exactly college...but still...he wanted to repair air conditioners or something. In reality, you usually go to work for someone to learn a trade...get your feet wet and then continue with any schooling if you want to advance or get a license.
That could be true, he was probably going to get some kind of check to attend college until he either made it or dropped out.
If he didn’t make it he would still get another year of support.
