He offered similar pledges and promises in 2010 when he was running for the Senate. As soon as he defeated Hayworth, he was back pushing his Gang of 8 crapola.

I thought the people of AZ were smarter in 2010. They weren’t. Just like the people in SC are probably going to reelect Graham. Roberts in Kansas, too, even though he doesn’t really even live in Kansas any more.
For some reason, people go stupid regarding senators — especially ones up for reelection.
Incumbency is difficult to beat. That is why those senators throw everything including the kitchen sink at potential competitors.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Juan. You saved your dead presidental primary campaign in 2008 by promising to secure the border first. Then you promised to secure the border first again during your senate reelection camaign in 2010.
So, Juan, give us a list of all the actions you’ve taken to secure the border first since 2008?

McCain’s problem was NOT being a moderate.
His problem was he refused to counter-attack Obama during campaign and debates. Someone like Christy would have done a better job. I am not a Christy backer, just saying.
In todays age of 24-7 TV news, a pudgy, old, balding, face disfigured candidate like McCain has no chance against a tall, young and charismatic candidate.
I’ll always believe Juan McInsane threw the election on purpose.
