‘True Blood’ Season 7: HBO Confirms Sarah Palin Was Approached To Appear In Final Season

Sarah Palin was almost able to see Bon Temps from her house. Talking Points Memo was able to confirm that the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential nominee was approached to appear in the seventh and final season of “True Blood,” just as Palin had mentioned earlier in the week.

“The brilliant minds of ‘True Blood’ were brazen enough to ask me to do a cameo on their show, apparently so they could insult a conservative woman in person instead of just all conservative women in general,” Sarah Palin told Breitbart News. “Their offer wasn’t presented in any negative way, perhaps to benefit from a surprise factor after the guest appearance. I turned them down anyway.”

HBO confirmed to Talking Points Memo that “Sarah Palin was one of several Republican figures brought up in discussion regarding episode 5 of ‘True Blood.’”

“Casting directors for the show reached out to Ms. Palin’s representative but did not receive a response,” said HBO spokeswoman Kelley Carville.

The episode in question brought Pam and Eric to a fake Republican gala for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, at the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas. Pam and Eric mocked the event -- with Pam even saying that she was dressed like a “Republic***.”

Pam and Eric had been searching for Sarah Newlin, who was at the event to seek aid from her parents. With the Yakuza after her due to her involvement with Hep-V, Newlin was hoping that her mother could get her help from someone powerful – like Laura Bush. But Newlin’s mom informed her that Laura Bush stopped taking her calls as soon as her involvement with Governor Burrell and Hep-V came out in Bill’s tell-all book. Things took a grizzly turn at the gala when the Yakuza arrived and went on a shooting spree while searching for Sarah Newlin.

Ted Cruz responded to his reference in “True Blood” shortly after episode 5 aired.

“Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO’s ‘True Blood’ vampire show would have to be near the top of the list,” Cruz posted in a Facebook message. “Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a ‘Ted Cruz fundraiser.' Well, I’m sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends …”

Ted Cruz posted a message on Facebook regarding his mention in episode 5 of "True Blood."

Carville told Talking Points that “True Blood” did not offer Palin the cameo to offend her.

“Had Sarah Palin come on the show, she would have been treated with the same level of dignity and respect all of the show’s actors are and would have been privy to the script in advance of filming,” Carville said.

Does anyone on the planet (including Kelley Carville) believe that Sarah Palin would knowingly appear on a television show that had a script containing the word "Republic**t"? OF COURSE the script would be hidden from her. The entire point of having Sarah Palin on the show would be to embarrass her.
