Audiences will get more than a dystopian future when they line up to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes next month.
The second film in the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise reportedly packs a pro-gun control message, according to a new review of the film in Variety. The story also touches on environmental fear mongering, albeit in a reduced fashion compared to the first installment.
The Apes franchise has always been a politically loaded one, and this latest entry states its left-wing credo in ways both allegorically implicit and bluntly direct. (Youd have to be pretty obtuse to miss the pro-gun-control subtext attached to misdeeds on both sides of the man-monkey battle.) While the previous film functioned as something of a cautionary tale against mans destructive meddling with his environment, Dawn apportions blame a little more equally, as the beasts (introduced in a thrilling, technically jaw-dropping faceoff against a grizzly bear) are shown to be no less reckless an influence on the biosphere than their former superiors. I always think ape better than human, Caesar admits to Malcolm, his speech patterns having evolved rather rapidly even over the course of this film. I see now how like them we are. Its a reverse epiphany that would have Jane Goodall in tears.
The upcoming film is set roughly a decade after the 2011 hit which showed how the franchise's genetically engineered apes came to be....

Hollyweird missed the point of “revolution”. Of course the chimps are going to use guns.
Our founding fathers understood this.
So do Communist dictators.
“We shouldnt give guns to apes.”
I say let them earn the right to bear arms. Let them successfully complete a firearms safety class; and pass a test to get a written permit.
But if there isn’t abortion for apes how far have apes really come? That should be the real issue. That and the accepted recognition of buetiful same sex ape love. C’mon Hollywood, tackle the real issues apes would have to face.
Freegards
Heston’s rolling in his grave.
I’ve been watching it, piecemeal, the last few hours and I got bored. The way they ‘transform’ from car(the autobots) to warrior is repetitious and boring as well. No imagination, it’s just an obvious CGI blend routine.
Oh its already on Torrent sites then.
Well, when its comes to the Transformers movies I’m not looking for quality just an hour and a half of mindless escapism:))
Actually, in the original Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, black people self-aligned with the apes' freedom fight, so much so that the filmmakers had to tone down the destructive ending and add a conciliatory speech by Caesar for fear of starting riots.
So did the US government instantly put these “beasts” on welfare, EBT, WIC, Food stamps, Section 8 housing, Medicaid free in-state tuition and drivers licenses?
There should be reasonable ape control. ..
No monkeying around....
I’m gonna guess;
“they stopped using birth control”?
Just a guess...
Negative. The pilot was a neighbor. He was sneezed on by the sick coworker who went to the house looking for them.
Yup. The radical leftists were enamored by how the worker apes slaughtered the masters.
It was a clunky re-edit to make it peaceful.
with their attitude, it would be mayhem!
Guns don’t kill people.
Apes with Guns kill people.
Have at it, fellas...
It is indeed an odd world in which we live.
I wonder if they saved the footage from the edit? The late Roddy McDowall had a good screen presence, even under all that makeup, and I bet he could do a grand St. Crispan/Crispinian speech (Henry V).
According to his bio, his performance in the Burton/Taylor Cleopatra was so good, he was accidentally nominated for best supporting actor, though he was not listed as one of the major cast, and Fox had to apologize and withdraw his name from the nomination.

I don’t see where the Breitbart writer gets the gun control message ut of this, its not in the Variety reference that he cites that I posted the direct link to.
Seems like anyone watching a movie about a bunch of apes running around causing havoc would think have having some guns would be useful.
I think people are just on-edge in general, knowing that everything and anything to do with the left is ultimately about getting control.
So... everything will be about that in peoples’ views.
It’s kind of just where we are right now.
Personally, I didn’t like the remake of the original, and I’m less inclined towards the recent ones.
But yeah... it’s things go “primate”, it’s good to have weapons.
I always will, for sure. :^)
