A 73-year-old Vietnam veteran

The guy showed that he had no intention of following policy. He was given plenty of warnings. At some point they have to take action. He has no one to blame but himself.
If he wanted to be “humanitarian” he had to look for the union label err the “spark of divinity” in an illegal alien ...
The guy he helped was an American citizen...a felonious thing to do...
I’ve read a description of the problems with him, he seems to not care about the simple rules.
He also was wrong to encourage the homeless to come in looking for freebies.
Yes I have. And this guy is giving away a nickel’s worth of food. His costs to the company are nothing compared to the other LP.
Hmmm are you so pure? Ever take a paper clip, an envelope, use your company computer for personal email or Facebook? I know of NO one who is perfect.
Sam Gibbons also comes to mind. He was a WW2 vet that tried his best to destroy America internally.
Trolling, but his bait bucket has holes. It is a black and white, clear as day issue.
Supposed you were never on one of the previous threads where it was revealed that he had been warned and counseled five times about this? www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3173524/posts
Oops!
I definitely think he should have been fired. It wasn't his property to give away. If he wanted to reach into his own damned pocket and buy a muffin for the guy, he should have. But he didn't.
And this issue with extra packets of sugar? If I buy a cup of coffee and want to sweeten it with an extra pack of sugar, I believe that is why establishments provide them. They do not provide them so I can grab a handful and go home and make lemonade. What is so hard to understand about this? I think people are being deliberately obtuse.
I see the signs/billboards on I-75 when I drive down to Tampa.
The restaurants are often in the boondocks.
Sorry, it’s got nothing to do with the value of the food. It’s that he’s ignored 5 supervisor warnings. BTW, I don’t believe you on the ownership/management part - or else you would have understood this point.
I’m not defending Cracker Barrell per se - I am more saying the headline is misleading in how incomplete it is - for blatant emotional reasons - and a lot of Freepers bit on it.
The headline COULD have been “Cracker Barrell Fires Thief After 5 Warnings” - for instance. That would have been over the top in the other direction.
No Christian charity? Or forgiveness for sins? I’m disappointed in you!
As I’ve said previously, I think the 5 warnings and, particularly, writing up of them, as over the top. If he had been giving away something substantial, the story would have been different and would have gone away. Why don’t we agree to disagree with this? I don’t want to be lectured anymore on my moral lapses by my moral superiors. Not necessarily from you but from other self-righteous types.
I actually don’t think we disagree ..on the real issue - it’s just that your emphasis was how Cracker Barrell acted - and my emphasis was on how some (not you) over reacted based on an absurd headline.
And through this bad publicity, how many bucks has CB lost?
That’s fine.
Somebody who is dishonest in small things can be dishonest a LOT in small things.

Good on ya, for paying for your friend’s food.
Obama’s job as a teen was at an ice cream place. He was fired for giving free ice cream to his choom buddies and not paying. ....That prefaced him being dishonest in BIG things.
Barry Obama used to give his friends free ice cream, too.
if my employees see fit to give away MY product, services or supplies, they have to pay me for them, or they will be fired for stealing.

The employee offered to pay for the corn muffin. CB still fired him.
