For years, the terrorist organization Boko Haram has been murdering people throughout Nigeria. Last year in July they killed 42 children in an attack on a school. Two months later, they murdered another 40 people at a college. Hundreds have been massacred by these disgusting excuses for human beings for years.
Today, and for the past few weeks, the Twitter "hashtag" #bringbackourgirls has been sweeping the site. Just a simple Twitter search of it will turn up thousands of tweets saying the same thing.
Possibly the most famous of these tweets was First Lady Michelle Obama tweeting out a picture of herself frowning, holding a card that reads, "#BringBackOurGirls:"
But what exactly do people think such things will accomplish? Are they aware that simply writing on Twitter will not physically remove girls from the grasp of Boko Haram and deliver them safely home?
Boko Haram will not be checking how many "re-tweets" Michelle Obama will get and, if she eclipses a certain number, they will release their captives. Boko Haram does not care that several thousand Twitter users in San Francisco wrote "#bringbackourgirls." None of these people will physically do anything to force this terrorist organization to actually do anything at all. In fact, it's more than likely that Boko Haram hasn't even heard of this campaign.
Years ago, "KONY2012" took Twitter by storm. And what has happened because of all of those tweets?

How will a hash tag rescue these girls?
Exactly
I tried Twitter for several months. I figgured out that all it is good for is making a fool of yourself. I saw even famous, otherwise repsected, people say incredibly dumb stuff. With only a hundred and fifty characters or so, it’s hard to make a valid point.
I haven’t been back for a year.
It will distract the press from Trey Gowdy’s select committee.
They have people there as we speak trying to get them. Trust me they are working it. If you think otherwise then you are naïve big time. I would imagine that the President gets a daily update at least.
It is something like the "Free Tibet" bumper sticker you see. If someone actually took the steps needed to free Tibet they would be the first out there screaming bloody murder.
If someone actually takes the steps necessary to bring those girls back then the liberals will have a conniption.
Again I would not expect FREEPERS to use Twitter much. Thank God you guys found Free Republic but anything advanced of this site is going to confuse and complicate your lives. Just stay here. It is safe and doable and you all are welcome!
First off they are Not our Girls. They are not American citizens.Though as usual these leftwing idiots care more about protecting non-Americans than they do about protecting our own citizens. Most notably our Ambassador to Libya and the four members who tried to protect him.
It is something that the world is going to have to conclude sooner or later that these Islamic thugs have to be neutralized. But this is not the time or the place for us to be wasting our blood and treasure when there are many Countries in Africa that could do the job if they wanted to.
Let Obama put his Daughter’s in uniform and put their lives at risk for another of his worthless causes.
and oh yeah,, this now makes her qualified to become president one day,, this is her foreign affairs experience . .
lol. She literally has more than her husband did when running and quite frankly even today.
>What Exactly Do People Think #BringBackOurGirls Will Accomplish?<
.
It makes them feel as if they accomplished something.
What is it? They don’t know and deep in their hearts they really don’t give a sh*t.
To liberals, looking like they care is all-important.

Twitter is like an Edsel. It was new at one time, but that didn’t make it a good thing. Truth be told, it had some good innovations though that were carried forward into some products that were, in fact, good.
Twitter is for children, kinda like blocks. Oops, is that kinda old fashioned? Good news: I didn’t mean wood blocks. I meant carbon fiber blocks with programmable OLED surfaces, connected to the kid’s Ipad and programmable to respond to the kid’s body motion and proximity to the block.
i.e. “newer” doesn’t always mean “better”. And sometimes it takes a few decades of experience to figure that out. ;)
It will “raise awareness”
Everythign is solved once you have awareness raised.
BTW, I have 74 years left of my 300 year assignment and, truth be told, I’m becoming one of you in more ways than I am comfortable with. It’s probably why they limit us to 300 years.
I’m already training for the next assignment. It’s quite exciting because apparently the body I will be occupying can actually live inside a star.
This is just another smoke screen. (think demonstration video), to keep the truth of Ben Gazzi out of the news.
I learned a new word today... "slacktivism" where one participates in an activity that does very little other than to allow the participant to feel like they've done something. This word needs to go viral.
lol. Good post.
But it will show the world you care. #PointsForCaring. #Not.
