Chinese Solar Deal with Harry Reid is Kaput-No Where Near Bundy
jenkuznicki.com ^ | 4/14/14 | Jen Kuznicki

Don't get me wrong, Harry Reid is behind everything in Nevada, but I haven't seen evidence that the solar deal with ENN is even still being considered.  After The Blaze reported that ENN dumped the project, I still see links to this Reid/Chinese deal that isn't happening.

"A Chinese-backed company is pulling the plug on a multibillion-dollar solar project near Laughlin after it was unable to find customers for the power that would have been generated there, a Clark County spokesman said Friday.

In a letter dated Friday, an executive from ENN Mojave Energy LLC informed the county that the company was terminating its agreement to purchase 9,000 acres near Laughlin, stating that the “market will not support a project of this scale and nature at this time.”

The company, a subsidiary of ENN Group, described as the largest energy company in China, said it was unable to sign the necessary power purchase agreements to sell the energy generated from the solar plant to utilities in Nevada or neighboring states."

After seeing countless blogs mention that ENN and Rory and Harry Reid are the reason the feds left Bundy alone, I feel like someone should be able to tell me how the deal is even still viable.  I did read an old impact study by BLM on mitigating solar project challenges, and they did talk about a solar test station north east of Vegas, but it is still west of the area where Bundy grazes his cattle.

What is happening, signed off by the Obama administration, regardless of market viability, is another solar panel farm in Primm, Nevada, near the largest solar farm in the world in California in the Mohave Desert, referred to as the "Ivanpah solar plant." Primm is an hour and a half's drive from Laughlin, where the ENN project fell through.  The solar farm in California, has been blinding pilots on flights from Vegas to LA, barbecuing birds when the birds get near the sometimes 1,000 degree heat that thousands of garage-door-sized mirrors would tend to do, and they had to "relocate" some 200 desert tortoises at the cost of $55,000 per tortoise, and it has been online since January of this year.

"The area around Primm, Nevada, is about to become even more of a hotspot for solar energy.

The Obama administration has endorsed two big projects near the existing Ivanpah solar plant that went online in January. One of the new developments would be in San Bernardino County; the other would be east of Interstate 15 in Nevada, near a smaller plant in operation since 2012.

The approvals, announced Wednesday, Feb. 19, renewed concerns among some environmentalists about the potential loss of wildlife habitat, in view of the dozens of desert tortoises displaced by the Ivanpah project and continuing concern about bird deaths at solar plants.

The Stateline and Silverstate South projects are proposed by Tempe, Ariz.-based First Solar Inc. If both are built, solar energy plants would cover about 13 square miles of public land in the Ivanpah Valley."

Perhaps. But I’ll go for the other explanation. When Dingy Harry and the Chinese company were starting to get dragged in by people doing the work that the media should have been doing all along, the Company ran like a cockroach. So Harry called it off.

You’re looking left instead of right. This is phase one of a bigger plan just 35 miles from the ranch.

I haven’t heard too much from Harry about the Koch brothers lately.

First Solar, you’ll remember, is the crony firm whose chairman of the board, Michael Ahearn, bundled hundreds of thousands in political donations for Obama and other Democrats, including the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Harry Reid. First Solar was rewarded for this special excellence with over $3 billion in taxpayer “green energy” subsidies – whereupon it laid off most of its American workers and consolidated most of its activities overseas.

China has the market in the US on solar panels.

There is SOMETHING here that Reid and/or Chicoms do not want exposed. I believe that is more likely the reason they backed down and the documents are the reason they were spooked. I think perhaps this is just the tip of a stinky iceberg.

Didn’t need to be “near” the Bundy ranch.
Reid needed Bundy’s land and grazing to offset the turtle habitat lost by the sale of the land to the Chinese firm.

Unable to find customers to buy government mandated green energy?

I smell enough BS to suspect they needed all of Bundy’s cattle to gather that much!

The deal was for a solar farm and PV module manufacturing plant (jobs on American soil and lower "solar panel" prices).

As for the price of the land sale, that’s common. I knew of one company that leased land and buildings from a city for one dollar per year (IIRC). The city wanted the revenues from manufacturing.

And the land in the ENN deal? That was County-owned land—not federal.

You are correct. This is the “feint” head fake of Reid and company, with his former chief aided heading up BLM the relationship continues on other BLM land. In Nevada... that is a hell of a lot of land as a percentage of Federal vs. private owned. Technically the Nevada land is “state” owned and BLM managed— but it amounts to a cartel of graft.

What’s more, the purported “endangered” tortoises excuse— well BLM has allowed “culling” of the highly recovered overpopulated tortoises that are no longer endangered. The entire topic is a ruse.

Reid was just quoted as a “tough guy” that people can’t “violate the law” (speaking of Mr. Bundy, the rancher) and expect to get away with it. This from the “cowboy poet” funding bill sponsor (yeah, we know Harry— “Brokeback Mtn.”
cowboys, the kind you like tooty frooty). This is a power struggle of different levels of Mormon corrupt statists and greedheads— using our Federal dollars— no surprise.

Exactly. Hence, Reid’s asinine comments today about Bundy “breaking the law” as he re-applies BLM largesse to his political grafting pals and family. The “management” of the “endangered” tortoises that have overpopulated the region and are being slaughtered by BLM to “manage” the population— which would be much preferable for PR reasons to move them to Bundy’s ranch so the solar chicom Reid farm can proceed. This Reid is a first class greedy little ass.

I think Reid in more along the lines of “evil mastermind.”
He’s like LBJ, but without presidential ambitions.

That is how the docs found on BLM read.

This is one of those issues we need to tread carefully. We can go crazy, throw out unfounded accusations against Reid, and sound like wingnuts. Or, we can start digging, find some facts, get it together and on the same page, then starting tossing it out there.

I personally want to know how much land BLM controls, how much of it is leased, to whom, and for what. Follow the money. If Harry Reid is up to no good, lets find the proof and throw the facts out there. There’s momentum on this story. It shouldn’t be wasted on unfounded accusations.

That BLM took that doc down is telling.

The place is a county-owned (not federal) piece of desert with not much more than casinos nearby.

I used to think that a name like Sisolak which has an immigrant spelling could be counted on to uphold the creation of Our Nation’s Founders. How things have changed since the days of WWII when I served overseas and my brother was killed on Okinawa and the USA was in danger of being taken over by the Japs of that time to now when our own elected officials are willing to sell out the USA to the Chinese.
