Perhaps. But I’ll go for the other explanation. When Dingy Harry and the Chinese company were starting to get dragged in by people doing the work that the media should have been doing all along, the Company ran like a cockroach. So Harry called it off.

You’re looking left instead of right. This is phase one of a bigger plan just 35 miles from the ranch.

I haven’t heard too much from Harry about the Koch brothers lately.

First Solar, you’ll remember, is the crony firm whose chairman of the board, Michael Ahearn, bundled hundreds of thousands in political donations for Obama and other Democrats, including the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Harry Reid. First Solar was rewarded for this special excellence with over $3 billion in taxpayer “green energy” subsidies – whereupon it laid off most of its American workers and consolidated most of its activities overseas.

There is SOMETHING here that Reid and/or Chicoms do not want exposed. I believe that is more likely the reason they backed down and the documents are the reason they were spooked. I think perhaps this is just the tip of a stinky iceberg.

Didn’t need to be “near” the Bundy ranch.
Reid needed Bundy’s land and grazing to offset the turtle habitat lost by the sale of the land to the Chinese firm.

Unable to find customers to buy government mandated green energy?

I smell enough BS to suspect they needed all of Bundy’s cattle to gather that much!

The deal was for a solar farm and PV module manufacturing plant (jobs on American soil and lower "solar panel" prices).

"Clark County commissioners unanimously voted to sell the Chinese company the public land for just $4.5 million, despite the fact that it was appraised at $38.6 million."

As for the price of the land sale, that’s common. I knew of one company that leased land and buildings from a city for one dollar per year (IIRC). The city wanted the revenues from manufacturing.

And the land in the ENN deal? That was County-owned land—not federal.

The place is a county-owned (not federal) piece of desert with not much more than casinos nearby.

The public land Bundy's cattle are on are part of an "offset" for disrupting the solar project land.

The public land in question was never a proposed site for the actual solar project of the Chinese or the First Solar project that has broken ground.

And yes, the deal died long ago. It’s old news. Local power companies weren’t interested. The land was owned by the County—not the federal government. Too bad about the lost opportunity for hundreds of manufacturing jobs.

The mentioned deal may be defunct, but I bet there is another deal right behind the defunct deal.

Reids are corrupt and will do anything to get their way.

Here's how it works.. Disney wanted to develop its high-dollar living community, Celebration, but it was going to involve reclaiming 500 acres of standing water swamp. They got the local government to okay it with bribes and sold it to the people as low cost housing (big lie). To get around the EPA, though, they had to buy (for nothing) 500 acres of trashy swamp down south and ‘set it aside’ for all time. Plant some cypress.. yada yada. Once that was okayed, they destroyed the Kissimmee swamp to build Celebration, killing every living thing in it, with the blessings of both fed and state government.
As I understand the Nevada situation, the Chinese were getting good land to develop and were going to ‘set aside’ the land that is being fought over now. To remove the current users, turtles were used as a ploy..

Mitigation bank land need be in no spatial relation to an impacted site. I’ve seen A Certain large western states highway department “wetland mitigation” banks created by drilling $50,000 wells that use $2000 of electricity a month in the middle of the desert, to be turned on in “perpetuity” when the need for wet replacement acreage arises. No mention of what happens to all the critters that get used to it when there is either a power crisis or failure.

(We were paid close to $5000 to mobilize out to the location to clean up a motor oil stain the size of a bath mat on the sand an cart off an old refrigerator)
