I am asking for prayers for my oldest brother, and the patriarch of our family since the death of our father many years ago.
I just returned home from two days visiting my brother, RMC(SS) Douglas A. Wright, USN (Retired), in the hospital where he is dying from COPD.
Growing up, he was always my mentor. He is the one who took me to see the Navy Recruiter in 1969, when I quit HS at 17. During the 10 years of my service, we served in the same location several times, and I had a standing invitation to join him and his family for dinner.
In January, he was admitted to the hospital in Northern California. He was in the hospital on his 70th birthday in February. The doctors didn't expect him to make it to his 49th wedding anniversary, which was yesterday.
Last month he was given a trachea tube, and the respirator has been doing his breathing for him since.
When I arrived on Sunday, my nephew picked me up at the airport and took me directly to the hospital.
I spent all day yesterday with him, his wife and my nephew's family, and we celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. The nurses in the ICU got together and presented his wife a small cake to celebrate with.
All during the day yesterday, I spent the time with him, and called all of our brothers and sisters that I could get ahold of, so they could tell their brother "good-bye".
I had my laptop and used it to view with him some pictures our cousin posted on the web, of him in the 40s, 50s, 60s and some up into the 80s.
I got to show him pictures of my daughter and grandchildren.
I caught the return flight home this morning, completely drained, emotionally and physically.
I am asking the prayer warriors to remember my brother. Pray that when they remove the respirator in a day or two, and let nature take its course, that he'll pass quickly and peacefully into the hands of God.
Thank you all.
May God grant your brother fair winds and following seas as he sails to his final home port! I enlisted in the navy in 1968 and was a RM like your brother. God Speed!
Your brother, you, and the rest of your family have my prayers. May God bless you all with His comfort and peace.
My prayers are with you, your brother Douglas, and your entire family. May the Lord welcome him and grant you all peace.
Prayers offered. God Bless.
My prayers to your brother for a smooth, transition into God’s embrace when that time comes. My prayers to you, and the family members he helped to guide and support.
My prayers are with your family. May God give you all His peace that passes understanding.
Prayers for your brother’s suffering to be eased.
Prayers for a good man.

We Thank Jehovah God for the Blessings sent before
we asked. Thank You Jehovah God for our earthly brothers,
and Thank You Jehovah God for sending Your Son Jesus to
be our Eldest Brother and Savior.
Prayers for your brother and also prayers for you, Neil. Give thanks to God that you were given so many years to enjoy your loved one, and have faith you will see your brother again, for Jesus tells us it will happen. Death is a doorway we must all go through, but on the other side we are reunited again in the glory of Heaven and the joy of life everafter. I have lost most of my family and so can tell you firsthand that it will take time to get over your grief. Have faith that feeling of a giant emptiness will slowly fill with memories of the wonderful kind. It will take time to look back and be able to laugh about your times together, but that time will come as certainly as the sun comes up, and one day you’ll suddenly realize with a smile that God has filled up that emptiness with love - love for you.
May God’s Grace shine on you and uphold you in your sorrow and may He bless your brother and bring him quickly home. Amen.
Prayers up.
Lifting him in prayer.......God will take care of him.
My prayers are offered up to Our Savior for you brother Douglas and for the entire family.
May GOD provide all comfort to you and your family.
I offer a Salute to your entire family.
