I don't know where this is from, but it has Common Core written all over it...
Let the FREE MARKET run education. Let the people and families decide where and who to educate their kids and let states and local communities and families run the curriculum. Repeal laws requiring unions to run things and they'll be history in a twinkling of an eye. Affordable, effective education for children that is complementary to, not against, family values.

Add 26 + 17 by breaking apart numbers to make a 10.
Use a number that adds with the 6 in 26 to make a 10. Since 6 + 4 = 10, use 4.
Think: 17 = 4 + 13.
Add 26 + 4 = 30
Add 30 + 13 = 43
So, 26 + 17 = 43
I wouldn’t be surprised if they taught that Mammoth starts with X.
I’m only an engineer, so you may have to explain the “FAIL” for me.
Please provide evidence that this has anything to do with Common Core.
Please provide evidence that the woolly mammoth is not extinct.
Or is your issue with this that the author didn’t pick a word that began with ‘X’?

Evidence that this is not a gag picture would be nice.
The fail is obvious. Illustrating the letter ‘x’ with a picture of a mammoth, which does not begin with the letter ‘x’, because it is “extinct” which also does not begin with the letter ‘x’, means that neither the picture nor the word have anything to do with the letter being taught - they both fail to teach about the letter ‘x’.
This is the best I could find in the time I’m willing to devote to the “gag” question...
