New Jersey has followed Arizona and Texas into the Dark Side, banning sales of Tesla Motors cars.
I feel like Im living a chapter from Ayn Rands Atlas Shrugged. The part of Hank Reardon is being played by Tony Stark Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors (and CEO of SpaceX, and transportation visionary and software designer and physicist). James Taggart is played by Chris Christie, governor of New Jersey, Luddite in Chief.

On what grounds?........................
Ping!..................
The blogger is a liar. Wrong or right the sale of Tesla has not been banned, only the way they were sold without dealerships.
Politicians get a lot of money from car dealers. Car dealers don’t like Tesla’s plans to disintermediate the car industry. Like all good rent-seeking cronies, the car dealers went crying to the government to force the market to their advantage. Like all good corrupt politicians, Christie did what he was paid to do.
this is truly bizarre.
the largest socialist contingent in the nation live in California..yet we have teslas
No opportunity for crony capitalists to bribe politicians for the privilege of pursuing happiness.
I don’t see how Christie can justify this without treating other industries the same way. Seems like a good equal protection suit in the making.
The sale of Teslas has not been banned specifically, but Tesla’s business model most certainly has. The cars are Tesla’s to sell - who is Christie (or any of the other states who do this) to tell Tesla how to sell their cars?
I just don’t like lying.
I couldn’t care less how morons blow there money.
Car dealer unions wield a lot of power...
What happens when consumers find out there is no one to make warranty repairs or service their expensive eco toys because there are no dealerships?
Any competent shop can more or less fix anything with documentation and spare parts. E.G., for years BMW and MB refused to publicly release their specifications and jiggered their computers to accept only proprietary diagnostic tools. They lost their cases whebn sued.
Dealer mechanics are very very good, but they are not gods. Dealer accounting departments ARE even better and have god-liike powers, which translate into "unless every customer pays at least $500, we're losing money."
Yes, cars are "more complicated" now, but all it really means is that a layer of digital controls are laid over the basic 19th C tech of the IC engine.
Why can't Tesla contract with independent repair shops?
I think back when Saturns were popular, they would ship a car back to the factory if that's what it took to get it fixed.
Krispy Kreme Kristy can’t even fit in a Tesla, besides which, if you live in NJ (The Garden State) and you want a Tesla, FReepmail me, and I’ll make sure you get one. PayPal OK.
Make sure it comes with a fire extinguisher.............
For you, Nomex Coveralls and Booties.
In Florida?.........no way!..............
I will equip the Nomex coveralls with an internal cooling system ... and a relief tube. Would you prefer delivery on Wednesday or Thursday?
When I posted this yesterday I asked the same question.
Evil Republican governor screwing Obama crony capitalists?
or
Democrat car dealers too greedy?
