I have NEVER, NOT ONCE, laughed at anything Failon did. Seriesly.
And I will even be generous and admit that I did once get a good yuk out of something Will Farrel did.
I did watch last Mondays show... zip, zero, nada. But according to NBC and all the other media wiseguys, this is more important than the second coming.
One thing I can’t figure is that the dames seem to die for this dude. What’s up with that? He looks like a growed up version of one of Beavers friends...
I realize that Jay might well be a democrat, and that is fine, there’s a lot of democrats in this country.
Jay struck me as a decent man, and that’s what counts.
I cannot stand Letterman, I think awful troll is a perfect description of that person.
And I do not want to see Moochbutt under any circumstance for any reason. I have never seen anything so hideous and thoroughly repugnant in all my life, and I never want to see it again.
He’s a manly man, ain’t he? What normal male sits like that?
Couldn’t agree more...Fallon was a success at 12:30 (in part) because of Jay Leno’s lead-in, and the fact that his core audience (18-34 year olds) finally flip on a TV about that time at night.
NBC had the same vision with Conan O’Brien five years ago. Conan was younger and hipper, and bound to bring in a more desirable demographic. He was gone in six months.
Fallon will flop as well. Leno’s old audience will find something else to watch and the younger, club-and-party crowd won’t change their viewing habits, either. If you see Letterman and/or Jimmy Kimmel close the ratings gap by this summer, you’ll know that Fallon is in serious trouble. NBC will give him more time to build an audience, but the hand-writing is already on the wall. One reason Fallon will get more time is because they don’t have a back-up plan if he fails. Seth Meyers? Give me a break.
Meanwhile, Jay Leno is biding his time and deciding what he wants to do next. Despite the brave face he put on in recent months, Leno was not really happy with the way the transition was handled (again). He dominated late night ratings, generated a ton of money for NBC and even took a pay cut to keep some of his staffers on the show. NBC showed its gratitude by hustling him out the door (again) and installing younger, hipper host Version 2.0.
Leno claims he’s done with late night—and he doesn’t need the money. But I don’t think he’s through with getting his revenge on NBC. I believe Leno will have a new show on the Fox broadcast network by this fall (early 2015 at the latest). Fox can offer him something the other networks can’t—a 30-minute jump on the competition.
Fox doesn’t program the 10 pm EST hour of primetime, so most of their affiliates have their late news at that time, meaning a Leno talk show on Fox would be cleared to start at 11 pm. That meshes well with viewers who tuned in for Leno’s monologue and turned off their TVs before the show ended.
If Leno returns to late night, I can see Fallon at #3 or even #4 in the time slot within two years. At that point, NBC will have to write another $60 million check (that’s ow much they had to pay to get rid of Conan), and they’ll be scratching their heads over how the killed one the biggest cash cows in the history of broadcast TV.
Looks like he wants to hook up with a guy in the front row.
why is it that comedians have to be liberal?
They used to joke about Bush all the time, but, it’s as if Obama is off limits for some reason.
The tone of the political humor on these shows has definitely changed since Obama became president.
I’m with you.
Jimmy Fallon.
Wasn’t some sort of small time bit player on SNL? (yes)
He wont last long. Seems like your everyday Joe Schmuck that could part time at Jiffy Lube on the weekends.
Jimmy Fallon laughs at his own jokes...I can’t stand it when they laugh at themselves... and Fallon isn’t that funny!
Interesting. Thanks for the insider’s view!
Cancelled?
Kimmel will destroy him in the ratings.
You could be right. With all this publicity it seems like the only place he can go is down. College kids and hipsters will find something else to watch. So will a lot of Middle America.
NBC franchise shows like Today and Tonight do tend to hold an audience whatever they do, though, because there are enough people out there who just keep on doing what they've always done. The fact that Fallon isn't very edgy cuts both ways. The same blandness that turns many off will be reassuring to some people.
Fallon is not going to last in this gig if he doesn’t sharpen it up a bit. Sounding like a younger version of David Letterman, sucking Obastard’s kiester, is going to get him fired for poor ratings.
Fallon lost my wife and I on the third night. In many ways he has more talent than Jay Leno, but the Tonight Show was not designed to be a talent show. The new format (and Fallon) are just not for us.
I miss Jay Leno, and I hope Fallon fails miserably.

I tolerated Leno almost till the end and when he announced his ‘best friends and most influential guests were going to be his choices for the last week etc’ and Bill Maher was on or near the top of the list, I decided I didn’t need any more Leno.
Granted we can be friends with our adversaries but to me it is/was somewhat of a statement...”In case you wondered which side of the aisle I ‘really’ liked”....
I was going to give Fallon a try - just to see what the new format may be etc but when his guest list was announced and it included moochelle in the 1st week, I decided I had seen and heard all I wanted to know about Fallon.
Fallon lost my wife and ME (not I).
I hate when people get that wrong.
Fallon lost I ?
I hate it when people become self-appointed grammar police but especially when they’re rude about it!

He is like the guy on the right side of the photo.

It’s a perfectly cromulent word.
