Cuomo forces “conservative” Remington out of New York; Democrats force Occidental out of California

This week brought two sharp reminders of what our country will increasingly look like should Democrats be given complete control of our lives. Here’s why we cannot give up the fight for our freedoms. Last month the Democrat Governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, told a public radio host he thought, “….extreme conservatives” who are “right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay,” have “no place in the state of New York.”

Honesty like this, even on a public radio station few people actually listen to, is rare for any politician especially a Democrat. Given the size of his audience Cuomo was likely using the opportunity to generate a few lines of red meat quotes to use in fund raiser letters. Nevertheless, what he said is how he really feels and now, Remington Arms, one of the largest gun manufacturers in New York has opted to take him at his word.

Well-placed sources are reporting that Remington...

I own guns made by Remington, Beretta, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Mossberg and several other places in northern states. Lately, I’ve been very specifically picky in what guns I buy and where they were made.

I’m really not of a mind anymore to support the economy of a northern Democrat state, even if the manufacturer is pro 2A. Their taxes, jobs and other benefits go to the governments of those states, and that is what counts on the bottom line.

Great article. I think these are but the large examples. There are many, many smaller such examples. For instance, Amazon (a blue company, by the way) decided to build a big warehouse in Wisconsin on the Illinois border. Amazon refused to build in Illinois because of that state's aggressive anti-business tax structure. This means about a thousand jobs for Wisconsin and a concurrent job loss for Illinois.

I am concerned that this either means a growing Balkinization of the country in a very hardened manner.

One thing seems clear, people may be waking up to the disaster that is the Democrat Party. A disaster that the American people brought on themselves!

REFERENCE Cuomo's Social Engineering as HUD Chief Contributed to Subprime Crisis / originally published on Examiner.com ---SNIP---In 1993 President Bill Clinton appointed Andrew Cuomo (now NY governor) to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as Assistant Secretary. In 1997 Cuomo took over as HUD chief replacing Clinton appointee Henry Cisneros. During Cisneros tenure he championed Clinton's goal of social engineering within the housing market forcing lenders to issue loans to those that would not financially qualify for the lending.

Cisneros left office in a scandal involving lying to the FBI over payouts to a mistress, Cisneros subsequently pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and though never sent to prison received a pardon from Bill Clinton in 2001.

Andrew Cuomo took the HUD reins and not only furthered Cisneros and Clinton's policies but greatly expanded them.

Henry Cisneros moved the GSEs toward a requirement that 42 percent of their mortgages serve low and moderate income families. Andrew Cuomo raised that number to 50 percent and dramatically hiked GSE mandates to buy mortgages for the "very-low-income."

These bad loans were purchased and sold throughout the secondary market and the pyramid grew and the bottom collapsed resulting in the subprime crisis we are still reeling from today.

In 2008, the Village Voice published a compelling report detailing Andrew Cuomo's policy decisions "that gave birth to the country's current crisis."

The report touched on how Cuomo's 187-page rules "opened the door to abuse." The rules explicitly rejected the idea of imposing any new reporting requirements on the GSEs. In other words, HUD wanted Fannie and Freddie to buy risky loans, but the department didn't want to hear just how risky they were.

Cuomo got lucky-- New York voters were distracted by his gubernatorial opponent's racist jokes; and failed to see the actual harm to the minority community directly caused by Cuomo's policies..

Cuomo's top aide said, "We believe that there are a lot of loans to black Americans that could be safely purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac if these companies were more flexible."

NOT TO MENTION MASSIVE BAILOUTS W/ OUR TAX DOLLARS Andrew Cuomo doubled down and had this to say about his HUD standards, "GSE presence in the subprime market could be of significant benefit to lower-income families, minorities, and families living in underserved areas."

How's that working out for the minority community, where foreclosures and unemployment rates have hit the hardest as a result of such failed policies and blatant social engineering?

The buzz is ex-HUD chief Cuomo has a multi-million dollar stash to finance his glaring political ambitions. It is astoundingly easy to steal from a federal housing agency; (a) if you control millions of federal tax dollars, (b) you're willing to screw innocent taxpayers, (c) govt fraud doesn't bother you, (d) you have political connections.

REFERENCE---NRO---Colorado Health-Exchange Director Indicted (for Fraud, Theft as head of federal housing agency)

Ntl Review / By Jillian Kay Melchior

The director of Colorado’s health exchange has been placed on administrative leave after the state discovered she had been indicted for stealing from a non-profit, the Denver Post reports: [Christa Ann] McClure, 51, pleaded not guilty Feb. 6 in federal District Court in Montana to eight counts of theft and fraud from a nonprofit housing agency in Billings.

She was indicted Jan. 16 and notified her current Denver employer, the state-sponsored O/Care health exchange, on Monday, a few days after the story broke in Montana media, Connect for Health spokesman Ben Davis said in a telephone interview.

Connect for Health performed a criminal background check and checked references before hiring McClure in March, Davis said. “She was completely clean,” he said. Her position as executive director of Housing Montana of Billings, he said, made her well-qualified for her post as Connect for Health’s director of partner engagement — she was liaison with state and federal partners, such as Medicaid officials. The job pays $130,000 a year.… McClure, who has not been convicted of any charges, should have informed Connect for Health much earlier of the accusations she was facing, Davis said.

McClure was released pending trial, now scheduled for June. Each of the counts in the indictment against her carry potential penalties of five, 10 or 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

The 12-page indictment alleges that, while serving as executive director of the federally funded Housing Montana, McClure, between 2008 and 2010, paid herself “significant sums” for consulting services, although she was already on the payroll as a full-time employee.

She also made payments to her family and used federal money for personal travel, to pay family bills and to buy consulting services, the indictment alleges.

She also is accused of charging homeowners for a $750 warranty that did not exist, converting a laptop for personal use, inflating the hours she was to be compensated and writing herself a $21,000 check to which she was not entitled. The indictment did not specify the total amount she allegedly embezzled.

At this rate, the Northeast will lose most their arms manufacturers. The only viable state that in that portion of the country is New Hampshire, where SIG makes it weapons for the US market.

You must be an economist.

“Economists agree that unemployment benefits remain one of the best ways to grow the economy in a very immediate way,” - Nancy Pelosi
