The Girl Scouts have apologized for seeming to endorse abortion advocate Wendy Davis in a tweet late last month, .....
The endorsement has caused a firestorm of protest among Girl Scouts, their moms, and the public at large. The controversy comes at precisely the wrong time for the Girl Scouts, right in the middle of the cookie-selling season that nets the Girl Scouts somewhere around $700 million.
(snip)
The first cookie boycott run by John Pisciotta, executive director of Pro-Life Waco, had a tremendous effect on the Girl Scouts, even driving then Girl Scout CEO onto national television to defend the Girl Scouts against the charges they are too cozy with abortion advocates.
On Wednesday, the Girl Scouts issued the following apology:
December of 2013, Girl Scouts of the USA shared an auto-populated tweet, asking our social media audience to share their opinions about who should have been recognized in a discussion about 2013s noteworthy women. While our intentions were good, many of our followers and the public at large raised concerns about the content they were driven to via our social channels. We listened, and would like to take a moment to sincerely apologize to anyone we have offended. We are truly sorry. It is unlikely the apology will end the cookie boycott. After all, the Wendy Davis endorsement was simply the last straw; the Girl Scouts have a well-documented history promoting what many consider to be extreme feminism including abortion. To be clear, Girl Scouts has not endorsed any person or organization. As our methods of communication evolve with technology, the mission of Girl Scouts remains the same: to continue building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

They can't help it, and stop themselves promoting their brand of political agenda.
Wendy Davis is a sociopath who uses others without regard for the harm she causes them.
Her name should be no where near the Girl Scouts other than as an anti role model.
I will never eat ,buy or donate anything to that organization again.
I was a Girl Scout and proud of it. As an adult, I have bought lots of Girl Scout cookies every year and even froze boxes of Thin Mints to make the wonderfulness last for months. But I will never buy another box as long as I live. This organization is NOT the same one I used to love and support!
When I see young girls selling cookies and asking me to purchase some, how do I respond?
How about:
“Sorry sweetie, but the Girl Scouts management has made some bad mistakes and I don’t want my money going to them. But if you have another donation group in mind, say like the YWCA (ykids.org) or the Boy and Girls Club, then I would be happy to donate to that.”
What’s the alternative to the Girl Scouts for young girls?
I hate drawing kids into conflicts created by adults but the Scout organizations have brought it to this. What to do?
I’ve been boycotting the Girl Dyke cookies for many years now, and am not about to stop now. They are a degenerate organization and have been for decades.
The lesson learned from the ruin of the Boy Scouts and now the Girl Scouts is how easy it is for a few people with a political agenda to achieve a take-over of the voice of respected organizations to the point that there is no going back. What they have done in academe, they have done in opinion-making organizations and institutions across the board. Parents need to start thinking clearly for themselves.
Ann Saladin, who created the website MyGirlScoutCouncil.org, told Breitbart News she wasnt buying the apology either: Another example of empty words. Tweet is still posted. Weeks have gone by with defense by GSUSA. Still word games: autopopulated is false claim! (And not the point.). Not truly sorry for their decision, sorry some have been offended, misinterpreted the purpose of the tweet."An apology now, 6 weeks later.....just days before 'National Girl Scout Cookie Day'? Hmmm, wonder if what they're sorry about is the drop in cookie sales," she noted. "Still good on Sebelius as a 2013 woman with 'courage, confidence, and character.' So I guess they only backtrack on the offenses that get widely picked up. Sick.
John Pisciotta, who is running the boycott, told Breitbart News the boycott is still on. Girl Scouts USA apologizes only when they are damaged by what they say and do. However, on their own accord, they just do not think first about their praise for leaders and organizations that support abortion."
[bold emphasis mine]
I just tell them, I can’t afford it now that Obama has taken my health care away.
Girl Scouts went left first, long ago since the 70s, when feminists took over.
My husband and I bought boxes of their cookies every year once upon a time. We stopped at least five or six years ago. It appears that our boycott may be permanent.
Heh! That question is like the one I posed to a buddy’s girlfriend many years ago. We were at a local lake and she was slathering baby oil all over herself. Her boyfriend couldn’t have gotten lucky with her that day; she would squirted out of his arms.
I finally couldn’t take it any more and presented the following question: “Why are you wasting that baby oil? Do you know how many babies they have to squeeze to extract that much baby oil?”. Once the image took hold in her brain she was completely disgusted and pissed at me. I didn’t have a date that day, what did I care.
Amen!
Your story is almost the same as mine.
I remember selling tons of GS cookies.
Now, I’ll never buy any.
I feel the same way about the Boy Scouts.
It’s tough to turn down a neighbors cute little girl when she comes to our door selling Girl Scout Cookies. We bought 2 boxes. For the girl scout. I’m boycotting so many things that sometimes you have to pick your battles.
I know I will search in vain for a similar discussion by the GSA about Sarah Palin.
American Heritage Girls - a fantastic and rapidly growing organization!
