The Real Reason Sarah Palin Defended John McCain

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. was recently censored by Arizona Republicans for being too much of a RINO and a generally irascible fellow. Sarah Palin has taken to her Facebook page to rally to the venerable war hero's defense.

If a person can’t see McCain for what he is and trash the guy relentlessly, what value are they to us?

He's not going to run for president ever again. He's slowly making his way off the political stage.

Sure, point out when he's wrong, but what's the point in "trashing him relentlessly"?

Political discussion ought to be a little more than a video game.

Sadly, John McCain isn’t just slowly making his way off the political stage. He still shoots his mouth off corrupting Conservative ideology day by day.

Newcomers to the halls of Congress are cornered by this guy and subverted. This discussion itself is taking place because of the mistaken loyalty of a person many here respect.

I would raise the issue of him subverting her in a manner of speaking.

John still makes trips to the Middle-East and other places to influence policy, and insinuate himself into international debate. He insinuates himself into domestic issues as well. He’s continually joining one back room deal or another, and it’s almost always to the detriment of our cause.

Make no mistake about it, this guy has at least 2.5 years to go, and if I read him right, he wants another six on top of that.

This is no gently fading away guy.

On this day in 1973 the Paris Peace Accords were signed. Although controversial, this treaty resulted in the release of our American POWs in Vietnam. Among them was John McCain. Our courageous POWs had endured unimaginable punishment at the hands of enemy captors in their sacrificial service to country. Our appreciation for them cannot be adequately articulated.

So many of these vets and POWs have continued to serve our country in private life. They’re still fighting for America and showing their love of country in all they do. Some like Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas and Senator John McCain serve us in the halls of Congress today.

I consider Senator John McCain an American hero and a friend. He fights to remind our President that the federal government’s first priority must be strong defense of our homeland, and, like Congressman Johnson, he fights against big-spending colleagues who don’t prioritize for our military’s needs. Upon the Senator’s shoulders he’s carried part of our message of opposition to today’s “fundamental transformation” of America directly to the problem: President Obama and Harry Reid’s far left agenda.

I appreciate Senator McCain’s steadfastness in demanding truth in the White House’s Benghazi cover-up. Because of his persistence we WILL get that truth, and then more eyes will be open to see how dangerous an Obama-led retreating America is in this volatile world.

It goes without saying we don’t all agree on all political issues. For instance, I shall keep pushing to open ANWR, I oppose letting illegal aliens cut in line and receive American benefits via “immigration reform,” and I oppose any Congressional action that allows President Obama to incur more U.S. debt. During this time of dangerous lawlessness in the executive branch, those who agree on stopping the intended transformation of our country had better unite to fight. So at this time, it’s perplexing to see Senator McCain’s good efforts to uncover the Obama agenda being ignored and perhaps even hindered now by those wanting to censure the Arizona Senator. Despite our differences on some other issues, there is no questioning Senator McCain’s dedication to national security in spite of the White House’s agenda.

We live in a time of diminishing virtues because of societal influence towards total self-centeredness. This is unfortunate and makes raising families, conducting business, and governing that much more challenging. I know how important the virtue of loyalty is because in politics it’s pretty much nonexistent. I stand on that most important virtue and answer those asking today: “Yes, I am proud to have been asked to run with him in 2008, and he is my friend.”

One more thing, if you’ve met his beautiful mother you know where he gets his tenacity. Roberta McCain is one tough Mama Grizzly.

I know where Palin stands on the issues that matter most and McCain’s censure isn’t of the same importance as same-sex marriage, abortion, gun control, limited government, adherence to the Constitution, judicial activism, or the preservation of individual liberty. It just isn’t.

If Palin’s position on McCain’s censure is so important to some of you that you can no longer respect Palin, then I guess you and I have very different priorities.

Except that McCain's a proven enemy of individual liberty.

1. McCain-Feingold
2. Approves/enables the NSA's domestic-spying
3. Abusing lawmaking power to enact political retribution, specifically Edward Snowden.
4. Arguably sponsoring a Bill of Attainder [Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010]; which certainly can interact badly with the NDAA
   (Search mccain on the page on the last link to see a good comparison of the NDAA to Hitler's 1933 DISCRIMINATORY LAWS)
5. Hates the first amendment, wanting to make ISPs and blog-/messageboard-hosting sites responsible for their users's posts. [link]

If Palin’s position on McCain’s censure is so important to some of you that you can no longer respect Palin, then I guess you and I have very different priorities.

Frankly I don't really give a rip about the censure — it's an issue between McCain and his constituents.
What I do have an issue with is people treating evil as if it's a-ok, and make no mistake McCain's actions show him to be a force for evil.
I get that it's politics and burning all your bridges isn't smart; but that doesn't preclude one from following that old bit of motherly advice: if you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all.

So, yeah. I could see focusing on McCain's military service, or his generally good stance on abortion [last time I heard he didn't buy the Roe v. Wade reasoning]… but it's something else altogether to say that he's fighting against Obama or big spending colleagues when it's so demonstrably false.

THAT is my whole point.

I try not to read too much into it. I don’t think she has bad intent. I just think she should know better.

Palin has a point.

Sure McCain is with the Dems on immigration(amnesty) , Obamacare(ACA), taxes(fairness) , gun control(safety),...spending+debt.... you get the point.

But he is keeping Obama’s feet to the fire on holding Islamic nations ‘accountable’.

He will not rest until Obama invades, rebuilds and forces democracy on Iran, Syria and Libya.(This is why he wants immigration reform, more troops)

He is keeping us safe.

Well it may have been Hillary, but John and Barack were right in there supporting the whole think IMO. McCain couldn’t wait to help out the rebels in Libya. I hope he doesn’t skate when it hits the fan even worse than it already has.

He sure skated on Benghazi when you think about it. He got his way, and then that took place. Ouch.

Yes, because we know better than they what really is a just system of governance.
Why, just look at how free of corruption we are:

1. It's not like police murdering people are routinely given paid vacations while evidence suddenly disappears.
2. It's not like the FBI, BATFE, ICE, and DEA would enable violence in Mexico by enabling gunrunning.
3. It's not like the NSA would spy on millions of communications without probable cause, much less a warrant.
4. It's not like the FBI would kill someone's wife and then taunt him with her death.
5. It's not like the ATF would murder dozens of innocents, and then destroy evidence while accusing Koresh of pedophilia/child-abuse/polygamy -- as if the accusations invalidated their need to follow the law.
6. It's not like we have a Supreme Court that spouts off nonsense as rulings like:
   • Wickard, where intrastate commerce falls under interstate regulatory powers.
   • Raich, where non-commerce falls under interstate/intrastate regulatory powers.
   • Schenick, where they said that Congress could regulate speech/print, despite the first amendment.
   • Roe v. Wade, where they made a right to privacy [between a doctor and patient]… which doesn't apparently apply to the NSA… or even doctors and patients (ACA).
   • ACA, where everything's A-ok if we call it a tax.
   • Hollingsworth (prop 8), where they said that CA's own Supreme Court could not certify 'standing'.
   • King, where the supreme court acknowledges the 4th amendment's requirement for a warrant... and then ignores it.

     The Fourth Amendment expressly imposes two requirements: All searches and seizures must be reasonable; and a warrant may not be issued unless probable cause is properly established and the scope of the authorized search is set out with particularity. […] The proper test follows from the principle that permits warrantless searches: warrantless searches are allowed when the circumstances make it reasonable, within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment , to dispense with the warrant requirement.

7. It's not like we have a president who can virtually ignore the law with impunity.
8. It's not like we have a supreme court that can rewrite the law with impunity.
9. It's not like we have a legislature that is so averse to responsibility that it routinely blames the executive branch for the actions carried out by departments created/authorized/funded by that very legislature.
10. It's not like we have a legislature that writes laws wherein they exclude themselves.
11. It's not like the political elite will punish you for disagreeing with them politically.

That's just crazy talk.
