That was part of it. I saw his profile photo of him taken in 2012 on his IMDb page and didn’t even recognize him, he had lost so much weight (perhaps from the stress he claims to have been under... and I can attest to that it can make you shed pounds REAL fast). Problem is, if you went after every comedian that stole jokes, you’d end up putting all of them behind bars. They’ve been doing that since people started telling jokes.
Of course, in the past, if a comedian did it, they didn’t have YouTube to instantly check someone else’s routine. He clearly may have done it one too many times, and that gets you in trouble these days. If you can’t come up with your own material, hire writers and perform it. I see they’re coming down really hard on Shia LeBoeuf these days who has his own problems with plagiarism. I’m still waiting for them to go after Joe Biden. Of course, he’s so criminally stupid, at least he had an excuse for lifting other people’s work.
From what I gleaned from his IMDb page, Mencia is doing comedy clubs now.
