Although this could be a way for teenagers to become informed about sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and teen pregnancy if the patient doesn’t ask most doctors don’t offer the information.

Doctors just assume they are having sex.

Who’s got the time after quizzing them about Dad and Mom’s guns?

Perhaps doctors don’t feel its any of their business? If the teenager has a problem or a question, they should bring it up. I’d be suspicious of any doctor trawling for info what with the new Obamacare mandates. There’s always the feeling anything you say might be used against you in some overtly political way.

Kids are smart enough to know that confidentiality is not reality. And what the hell are they going to talk about? It’s really not a hidden subject.

It doesn’t help that who knows what is recorded electronically and put in the big centralized database.

I had to take my son to one of those walkin clinics Christmas eve. The Nurse practitioner sure asked about his smoking and drinking.

I was in the hospital last year As I was about to be discharged the nurse asked me if I felt safe going to my home environment. I told her it is none of her $%$$&%& business.

My son thought she was nuts. First of all he had a sinus infection. Secondly he doesn’t do either of those and if he did wouldn’t admit it with me in the room.

Dr, Sivana
You are right about this and that is something anyone visiting their doctor has to worry about today. All of the physicians that tend to my health needs are at the same clinic and I have already been required to used the Internet rather than the phone for everything except emergencies.

According to U.S Health and Human Services, unfortunately many STD are not recognized by some of these young people until it is too late to prevent permanent damage to their bodies.

Why would doctors ask them about their sexual activity? Isn’t that what Facebook is for?

With 25 percent of college age students infected with STD and perhaps too embarrassed to confide in a doctor while noticing that something is happening to their bodies, what is the remedy to dealing with this problem?

EXCUSE me...but, if a “teen” doesn’t know about an STD or pregnancy....they are idiots, and probably never go to a doctor...let alone a school.

If doctors assume they are having sex, why don’t they at least talk to them about preventing an unwanted pregnancy or how to protect themselves from becoming infected? The teenager does not have to ask questions if the doctor assumes they are already sexually involved.

Not idiots, fool hardy. Just as they binge drink and some end up dying from alcohol poisoning or driving when drunk?
Most “hooking up” takes place when both parties are drunk and don’t even remember who they had sex with the next day.
